Seems like a perfect video for Peertube.

What I'm saying is that last year without all the illegal, bullshit, ICE shit, without all the money that was wasted this year building up that garbage - more people were deported last year. The system that already existed last year did more in this area than this year. And without grabbing up US citizens and deporting them illegally, and without terrorizing cities for no reason.

Unless I missed it, this article doesn’t mention that last year — so without all this ICE bullshit and wasted money — the Biden admin deported more people than the Trump admin this year.

Sad my GOTY Death Stranding 2 didn’t win anything. But oh well. I hadn’t played Clair yet so I started it today. It’s good so far. Don’t know if it’ll top my Norman Reedus with a Fetus* yet though.

I actually think it’s time to retire flute guy. I think flute guy has jumped the shark, bringing in pvc pipe whatever instruments that you can’t even hear. You had your time in the sun flute guy.

Overall, I thought the show was OK. They need better pacing on when they are actually giving out awards. It seemed like there was a stretch of an hour where no awards were announced.

And I agree with the whole of the internet that the last trailer was a fat lot of nothing. Sorry to that team for working on a “dead” genre for years. I only say “dead” because by this point everyone has picked their game they like in that genre, and trying to add a new one right now is a terrible idea.

My current cycle is about 5-6 years.

I only upgraded my 2020 phone this year because I was worried I wouldn’t get any trade in value next year, but the phone generally worked just fine still.

[–] garretble@lemmy.world 36 points 1 week ago (5 children)

There were headlines just last week bitching that young people were holding on to their phones longer and that was hurting the economy or whatever.

Give me some WOODKID performing songs from Death Stranding 2.

I need a good cry.

Honestly, if I was really into AC still I’d be ok paying for the work of some devs of a five year old game if it made some good quality of life upgrades.

Adding Fortnite?

I bet Paul Dano would have done a better job with all this.

JJ Abrams?

The Star Wars JJ Abrams?

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Nikola Topic has begun chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with testicular cancer, general manager Sam Presti told reporters Thursday.

Presti said doctors are "extremely positive" about the long-term outlook for Topic, the No. 12 pick in the 2024 draft who sat out last season while recovering from a torn ACL.

Topic underwent a procedure in early October at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston to get a biopsy. After receiving the results, he asked the Thunder to not publicly reveal his diagnosis until he had started the chemotherapy treatments, Presti said.

My dude can't catch a break.

FFXIV on Linux (lemmy.world)

This question may be rudimentary for a lot of people here, but since Microsoft has decided to stop supporting Windows 10 I have really thought about switching my PC that runs Final Fantasy 14 to a Linux box. So, the question is: Is anyone here playing this game on Linux, and how well does it run?

I have a relatively old PC, old enough so that I can’t upgrade it to Windows 11, but it plays Final Fantasy 14 just fine. So I assume on Linux the game will run OK. However, I worry that if there’s an extra layer with wine or some other emulation that it may run a little more sluggish.

Is Bazzite the way to go?

Edit: Looks like they have a video up now discussing some of the cards and new ideas in this set:

https://youtu.be/HqzQhfiTeN0

As someone completely new to Magic but very well versed in Final Fantasy, they finally got me into the game with these sets.

My friend was doing an Edge of Eternities prerelease last night, and the shop had gotten a big restock of the Cloud commanders. So now I have all of these that piqued my interest…AND one EoE commander deck because they had some for sale.

So FF was my gateway drug into this game, and now I have some “normal” Magic cards.

But I have to stop because I also have to eat. I’m sure no one here has ever had that problem.

This thing actually looks sick as hell.

NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has agreed to a four-year, $285 million super maximum contract extension with the champion Oklahoma City Thunder through the 2030-31 season, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

This is now the richest annual salary for a player in league history.

He has now signed two contract extensions as a member of the Thunder, cementing both sides' partnership and trust since he arrived in Oklahoma City in 2019.

So the other day I went ahead and installed the current beta on my M1 iPad Pro to try out. I’m currently typed this in Arctic on the iPad right now in a window that doesn’t try to snap to pre-determined lanes! Crazy!

I have generally been using it with Universal Control from my Mac to get the mouse and keyboard over, and that - so far - works pretty well.

But I wanted to open the floor up to see if anyone else has tried it and what their opinions are. Or, if you haven’t and have a question about the windowing stuff, I or others might be able to field them.

For me, other than what I’ll chalk up to beta bugs mostly, I do think this has legs. Obviously not the full macOS everyone has been clamoring for, but it’s certainly usable and more or less works like you assume it works. Hopefully down the line Apple will figure out how to extend the background tasks to include stuff like running local servers/Node and whatnot for project development. But we’ll see.

There is some wonkiness when putting a window to the top of the screen, as it then has to do some battling with the clock/battery area and the new menu bar dropdown. At that point you have to click to get to the stop lights where otherwise you can just hover over them.

So anyway, how has the beta been treating you? Or if you have questions an interaction or whatever, we can all help answer them.

Edit: I’m editing this to share an article from MacStories interviewing Craig Federighi about the iPad:

Before I jump down a big rabbit hole to try and figure out how to make a custom feed, I thought I may ask some folks here a question I've had on my mind.

I like the Discover feed generally. I like the idea - I can find some posts outside of my own followers. That's nice.

But my issue is that it often throws in posts from 20 hours+ ago. Things move too quickly, and posts that old are...too old. I wish it was at max something around 3-4 hours old.

So therein lies my question: does anyone know of a feed that's basically just the Discover feed but with better time constraints?

Thanks!

This is a pretty great, long form post about the structure of Bluesky, and how it's largely kinda pretending to be decentralized at the moment. I'm not trying to make a dig at it. I've enjoyed the platform myself for a while, but it's good to learn more about how it actually works.

This article was shared on Mastodon via its author here.

This is largely a silly post, but I'm curious if anyone has any fun conspiracy theories. Like why does Tataru need that knife on her belt? Is it because she's got some NEFARIOUS dealings going on to get all that money?

More so, I just wanted to see if anyone else believes that the Random Mount button isn't fully "random." I swear I see the same handful of mounts summoned more than others. If I see the Manacutter or Yol summoned ONE MORE TIME, I swear...

It’s now been about a month (somehow) since Dawntrail launched, so I assume most of us have finished the MSQ, and I’m curious about your thoughts!

For me, I actually really enjoyed not being the center of attention the whole time. It was a nice palette cleanser from the last ten years. It was fun to tag along see this whole new continent. Of course, things do end up getting more serious than that, and I was impressed they were able to get me to care about all these new people so quickly.

The new dungeons and group content all felt good. I liked that none of it seemed to be pushovers, and myself and my friends died several times figuring out the various boss battles — which is a good thing!

I just finished the story last night so I’m now at the point where there are some new quests which I assume will open up some new content. So I have no opinion there yet.

But what about you all?

I’m about halfway through the story at this point, but I’ve really been enjoying these new starting zones.

Something that I never really did with the previous expansions is try and do a lot of side quests as I go. It’s been fun to learn more about these new characters and their cultures.
