I use passkeys through 1Password and it’s vastly less irritating to me than anything involving passwords, especially 2fa. I really don’t like having to wait for email to arrive or copying down digits from a text message, which seems to be how 2fa typically works 90% of the time.

I think what he means is that the unique identifier for a database record is a composite of two fields: SSN + birth date. That doesn’t mean that SSN to birth date is a one-to-many relation.

This is making me realize that I don’t fully understand the relationship between “instruction-tuned” and “pre-trained”. I thought instruction tuning was a form of fine-tuning, and that fine-tuning comes after the primary training of the model.

The heartbreak is such that today I feel like I want to give up on the entire concept of caring for others as a futile pursuit. Humanity’s darkest impulses are going to be off-leash here, and elsewhere, for at least four years, the chances of avoiding rapid catastrophic climate change have gone from maybe 20% to 0%, and it feels like nothing matters.

Trying to focus on caring just for myself and my family, but the flame has seemingly gone out.
