Yeah, it's kinda annoying at most, and I usually take it as them just trying to accommodate to my needs. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with OP, but more with his ex's reaction. "Blatant racism?" C'mon.

It looks like you can use "site:" on Google. Would that be useful for you at all?

You'd get branded "ignorant" at most if the tables were reversed and your ex thinking it's "blatant racism" is way blown out of proportion in my opinion.

Try getting mocked by some random shit spawns in Europe pull their eyes back and yell ching chong Chang on the train during your family vacation lol.

Still, though, I get it. It's pretty ignorant to assume white people can't use chopsticks in the current millenium.

Iirc it's 0 gravity as well.

It's standardization, not censorship. So I think your take is easy overblown. If anything, it helps us understand each other better.

Although, I have to admit, sticking to British English when we already have Canadian English is friggin dumb and a huge waste of effort.

But you don't understand how big the US is! We can fit two Chinas in Texas! And we can put five Texases in Texas! Omg it's so huuuuge you guys, public transportation would just not work here, like, ever!!

Whoa cool. Is there a platform other than here where I can follow your work??

I have sort of the opposite problem. My wife and I moved to Japan in our 20s and it was pretty damn easy because I'm a citizen and I had family help me find an apartment for us. We were 100% set in terms of basic necessities in like a week and could start job hunting immediately. Now that I'm in my 40s, we're trying to go back to Canada so we can take care of our parents more and let the kids experience Canadian schools, but it's so god damn expensive to do anything.

Isn't Christchurch in New Zealand?

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago

I mean, don't buy Star Wars ones since a portion of the sales would go to Disney.

Lol be better got you Trump.

I've noticed that a lot of video descriptions are about some Japanese piezoelectric tech written in English, Japanese, and Chinese. The weird thing is it's not even new tech. Can someone let me in on the joke or whatever it is?

Edit: I should clarify, the video and the description have nothing to do with eachother. I'll be watching a kid smoked in the head with a basketball and the description is about the tech mentioned above.

I can't seem to log in now find any information regarding this instance. It's also the same with lemmy.wtf. Is this happening for everyone else or just me?

I'm not very good at analyzing/critiquing movies or novels, so I was wondering someone more experienced than me to help understand why I can't enjoy recent movies.

Specifically, I recently watched Jurassic World: Rebirth and didn't enjoy it at all. I just feel like movies have very little consequences for crappy decisions by the characters and there are so many safety nets (plot armour) for the main characters. As a result,

Spoilerhardly anyone you'd expect die in a dire situation like in the movie to actually die.
So, nothing is really thrilling and most character deaths don't elicit any kind of emotional response.

And when speaking of death, I feel like there are other shows, movies, and anime where they just kill people off nilly willy like kind of an anti-meme. I guess it's more like gore shock that they're going for, but the most I get from that is maybe disgust.

I was thinking it's because I'm just too old and can't get attached to things so quickly, but I seriously cried when

SpoilerRengoku died after fighting Akaza
in Demon Slayer. I still feel like a real person has died and I miss him dearly.

Assuming it's not me, and it's the kinds of "blockbusters" that I'm watching, what is it that they're getting wrong with their storytelling?

Boys are back home! Go Sens Go!

Let's goooo!!

Go Sens!

They just said the last time the two teams played in the Playoffs, Facebook was two months old. Why do they gotta say stuff like that... Damn I'm ancient!

Been unable to watch the last few games because of a work trip! Go Sens!

I've missed the last two games because of my work trip, but I'm extatic!!!

I've been seeing some comments elsewhere that the last game wasn't a very good one, and holy hell they're right lol

But the BJs were maybe more desperate (sounds weird).

Anyways, super stoked!!

Go Sens!

Let's go!!

Ahhh, I overslept! Go Sens!
