Those are great links. Thanks for posting them! Gonna give them a look.

Web Rings were freaking awesome. I've recently discovered the Small Web tool from Kagi and it's basically a modern version of a web ring. It's pretty slick. www.kagi.com/smallweb if you're interested.

Right??? Like it's 1995 all over again.

But is it? Because the amount of websites that aren't search engines but have insane levels of tracking and data collection are very high. Not all of it is for search ranking, IMO.

Invasive tracking and pay-for-play search engines has broken the internet. It’s time to reclaim our independence with the Small Web.

Nope, and as an Isles fan I hope JT is forever dashed in his dreams for a championship.

Correct and what I've seen from Jellyfin / Emby are poor looking at best. While I could cobble together a system that works for me, there's no way anyone I share with would put up with it. Plex is PLEX for a reason.

FTFY: This is administration is bad for ~~business~~ humanity.

Same!!! I used to tell people that Siri was good at what it’s intended to do. Ask it to set a reminder or timer or ask a basic question and it’s good.

But then Alexa came along and changed the paradigm for what voice assistants could do and so the questions to Siri became more complex. And it fell over quickly.

Even today I asked it “does HomeKit support sprinkler systems?” And I got the dreaded “I can send you web results if you ask from your iPhone.”

Completely useless.

💯 The best way it was described to me was “it’s a parlor trick.” And I’ve started to use that phrasing ever since.

Boiling the planet just for this... thing. Freaking awful.

Right? Instead of "I can show you some web results on your phone" every time it's now "Would you like to ask ChatGPT?" every time. Barf.

The rushed launch of Apple Intelligence was a debacle, reminding Apple it should focus on readiness rather than quickly appeasing shareholders.

LOL. Musk WISHES he had even 1% of the design skills as Giorgetto Giugiaro. One car is a classic, the other is a "I have a small dick and want to marry Elon" statement.

Took my car out for its springtime shakeout drive. Pretty excited to get some miles on it here in NY now that the weather is finally nice.

Picked up a Hyperkin Dreamcast cable that outputs via HDMI. I tried it out and it’s displaying in this tiny box on my TV. The box on the cable has no settings and the TV is a 1080 Sony Bravia.

I’m not sure what options I have aside from stretching the image via the TV settings but if anyone can assist, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nintendo's next console is a safe bet, has predictable upgrades, and will finally break its flip-flop curse.

Over eight years, the Apple Watch has sensibly evolved—activity rings, rest-day pauses, Walkie Talkie, widget redesign—and become an indispensable daily companion. Yet its clever hand-washing feature from watchOS 7 is plagued by incessant false “loud environment” alerts from hand dryers and repeated dish-washing triggers that never get fixed. It’s baffling that a device capable of life-saving crash detection can’t handle drying your hands, making me suspect Apple’s engineers never actually wash theirs.

I joined up here from the other EV communities on Lemmy because it seems some consolidation is going on. Now it's looking like there's a ton of posts all from one of the mods and it's literally overtaking my feed.

For example, the top "hot" posts are here are SIX in less than an hour.

I'm all about getting the community active and all that, but is this really the best method? Spamming links to Elektrek or Cleantechnica doesn't really spur much conversation. Is it possible to just slow that roll of link spam and work on fostering more discussion?
