So I recently migrated from .ee to .zip due to the former shutting down soon. I noticed that alexandrite.app displays images differently on each of the instances.

For .ee, the image is embedded so it is displayed larger, and you can hide it if you want:

For .zip, the image is only linked, so you can only see the thumbnail and you have to manually open the image to see it:

Is this an instance-specific thing? Or is .zip doing something differently that alexandrite can't process?

This community is great. I hope to see all you guys on wherever the new community ends up!

Got it, thanks! See you on wherever the movies and tv communities end up!

Thanks for the recommendation! Do you happen to know where lemmy.zip is hosted? I'm trying to read the instance docs but can't find it.

Fantastic! Thank you for checking! Now on to picking a new instance...

Do you know if saved posts/comments are also included in the exported settings?

I'm looking for the same things as you. An instance that isn't part of the big instance fights, mostly leaves it to the user to block instances/communities (except for the illegal ones of course), uses the latest version of lemmy, and defederates from Threads. So far lemmy.zip seems to fit the bill. I've also been looking at infosec.pub (because my work aligns with it) and lemmy.cafe, but both are defederated with .ml, which I only wish to see because there are a lot of active non-politics communities hosted there.

Does anyone know if saved posts and comments are also exported with the account settings?

What happens to the vinegar-soaked bread? I'm guessing mold will have a hard time growing on it because of the acidity.

I'm sorry but the severe lack of broth/soup is a dealbreaker for me. The broth is literally what makes ramen what it is.

It's definitely a taste that you need to acquire if you didn't grow up with it. Did you just eat it as is though? It's usually best as an ingredient for soups and sauces.

That’s Benny just making sure he covers everything the next time the mummy comes back.

Not sure if I remember right, and I’m happy to be corrected, but isn’t the stats for plane crashes/accidents skewed by the smaller prop planes? When I see the typical conversation that flying is safer than driving etc., and then one side points to the numbers for plane accidents, the counter to it is that most of those accidents aren’t the big commercial planes most people fly on, rather the smaller aircraft.

One of my favorite bands as a kid/teen, and it never occurred to me all these years to look up some of their live performances. Well fortunately this was uploaded very recently and the quality is superb.

Same, security camera, same.

Does anyone know of a lemmy app that’s backward compatible and works on older IOS devices? I have an older iPad running IOS 12.5.7. Obviously I can just use the browser or a webapp but I wanted to check if there was an app.

I was able to install Liftoff before but it has stopped working since.

So I already have a front dashcam (Blueseasky) and it's fine, does what it's supposed to. I want to upgrade to a dual-camera (front and back facing) dashcam, similar to the ones used on rideshares, but something that can be mounted on the actual dashboard. I want to avoid running wires along the headliner and frame, so I prefer to mount my dashcam on the actual dash.

It works for my current dashcam because it's cylinder shaped and the camera lens can be rotated. So I just use a small square of 3M automotive tape to mount it, rotate the lens so it’s angled correctly, then just let the wire run down the side of the infotainment screen and into the 12V port.

Can anyone recommend a good dual-cam dashcam that is flexible enough to adjust the angle of both cameras while it is mounted on the dashboard? Most of the ones I've seen are designed to be mounted on the windshield, so the front-facing camera is typically fixed and faces the road correctly only if it's mounted there. The only way I see this can be possible is if it's a cylinder design with one camera on each end and both rotate.

One of the best things that came out of the Arcane animated series is this song. They just released an official music video for it.

Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s All You Need Is Kill, known for its groundbreaking time loop concept and powerful narrative of growth, played a pivotal role in the time loop sci-fi phenomenon. This iconic novel, which was later adapted into a global hit film, is now being reimagined as an anime. With a perfect blend of traditional animation techniques and cutting-edge visual technology, STUDIO 4℃ will be handling animation!

-From the description. The movie Edge of Tomorrow starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt is based on the original novel.

Fun fact - this was Die Antwoord, Ninja specifically, before they became Die Antwoord.
