They use laminate glass on the side windows as well as windshield on some models for noise reduction. Traditional window breaking tools don't work on them. It's basically a tombmobile.

BNPL over-extension and collapse was one of the things that led to the 1929 stock market crash. Back then, people were BNPLing things like RCA radios. Today it's cell phones and groceries.

Too bad we can't learn from history.

All I ever see is most people using (whatever system cloud provider comes with their computer/phone/tablet) and forking over $3, 5, $10, $20 a month to make the "your cloud is full!" alert to go away.

Somewhere in the middle is the way, and in countries like the US, that something in the middle should probably not be a US cloud provider anymore.

Cons include a dependency on a cloud service, which has a recurring charge and a privacy impact. The charge is typically minor vs the cost of a NAS or similar, and most services have some privacy assurances that may be enough to ease your concern.

With how places like the USA are degrading right now, the privacy impact is increasingly huge. Having a photo in your archive that could be flagged by an ML filter automatically as doing something now deemed "illegal" like having the wrong skin color is bad.

As for cost, you'd be surprised in that a few years of cloud or less can easily cost as much as a small NAS that can last a decade.

I'd advocate people learn how to preserve their data themselves, it is a good skill to have, and it helps strengthen data education in a time when Tech Bro companies want people as dumb and reliant on their tech as possible.

Easy enough to follow guides or ask an AI to set up a sync with another similar box at someone else's house in a different city or state to have an offsite copy.

Not if they are in another city or state, though. Easy to cover that contingency.

The shit that people seem to forget, is that he inherited a broken US government. Entire departments were missing paper trails, documents, and people. Most of his 4 years was spent undoing the damage from Mango Mussolini 1.0 by building a cabinet of competency to go fix things.

Was it glamorous? No. Did the shit democrat party do a single thing to point any of this out? No. Has Mango 2.0 had any success finding this alleged "fraud, waste, and abuse"? Nope. (In fact, after applying the necessary double-speak filter, FWA is what Mango 2.0 is doing.)

Should he have run again? No, he should have honored his original decision not to, and dems should have spent those 4 years fleshing out a proper young candidate.

Why people jump to negative shit so fast, one can only attribute to the negative energy broadcasts from the Mango and the Party of Evil. No decent human should feel it necessary to be a jackass.

Channel that negative energy at those actually harming humans, and everyone's entire existence, like Mango, Muskrat, that yahoo running Israel, and Putein. Oh, and towards educating those narrow-minded people that abstained their votes rather than try to protect their own country from harm. Better yet, get positive and help.

Remember when Steve Jobs said FaceTime was going to be an open protocol? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Set the temperature knob to a reasonable level and let it manage itself, instead of causing forced power outage strain, if you intend for it to live a reasonable amount of time.

Some things don't need home automation.

This is the point where the pet owner teaches the kitten not to bite so hard. If the human has any idea what they are doing.

We will start fixing ourselves once Bob the Midwest swamprat farmer can no longer get his Doritos at the Walmart. Everyone will finally wake and rise up, the sycophants will all be culled. We will all claim American Exceptionalism saved the day, and keep on being crazy and dumb in new and exciting ways.

Rep Guthrie, who apparently voted to impeach Pres Biden, and the secretary of homeland security, as well as being anti-abortion and in 2011 voted for "a controversial provision that allows the government and the military to indefinitely detain American citizens and others without trial."

Seems to have just the right amount of education to be writing legislation around technology. /s
