Now barge that lathe!

I guess they're the same as us then in that respect; our biology is primed for the outdoors, but we live longer indoors and any resulting depression or drop in happiness from this nature/nurture divide is very livable.
Fair enough. I can say that I'd probably let my cat out if I had one, but who knows, maybe I wouldn't
Yeah I've seen this dissonance in quite a few troubled people prone to substance abuse, sadly. Unable to rise out of their spiraling thoughts, aided by intoxicants and stimulants.
Story of our times, and I think it's hitting the younger generation the hardest
As someone without a cat in the fight, don't cats suffer if they're kept indoors? I mean, I know that I do
I can't sleep more than three hours a night without a good deal of alcohol in my system
By the way, I quit drinking three years ago
They thought I was a troll
Even without the Rick Astley stuff, this is an individual who lies to themself on a daily basis
I have to admit, I'm really grateful for AI helping me get to speed with old side projects I shelved years ago.
It's so nice that I can pick up an X year old project, don't need to fight through the inertia of relearning a framework from scratch using outdated documentation. I can just start immediately coding. I've picked up and finished a handful of these shelved projects and it's been good for my sense of self worth and esteem and my life has been better for it.
I still fear AI taking my job, but I do think it's a useful piece of tech.
(To quote an older comment:) The Luddites didn’t smash all those machines because they were afraid of them. They were more than happy to use the fancy new tools to make them more efficient. They just didn’t want to sacrifice their standard of living to do it.
The corner shop guy I bought the can of jackfruit from is from Sri Lanka and he told me to do almost the exact same thing!
I'm a generally miserable git who goes through bouts of extreme energy/happiness usually fuelled by a sudden uptick in sugar or alcohol.
It's a weird existence, but I'm glad that of all the mental configurations that life could have handed me, I'm built like this and not the other way round.
Meanwhile: Buzz Aldrin places a hand on the porthole facing Earth, and whispers "I wish I was bagging apples right now."
I love this, I'm framing it somewhere
Met a guy at work. Work remote so he's the only other guy in the entire country who works in the same company.
We get beer and a meal every couple of months. We have nothing in common except work. Plenty of uncomfortable silences.
He's moving to Spain next year. I'm gonna miss him
Walk on a leash might be something I'd try, though only on the streets. I live close to and volunteer at a nearby nature reserve, and I'm sure my colleagues would be livid if they knew I was taking a cat near a place with wading ducks.
That being said, we have a metric ton of foxes here and weirdly enough, the only thing they're afraid of seem to be cats.
