Good God, this takes me back to middle school when we were obsessed with this song/chant/animation (what even was it?)

Based on the second one, you must work in IT. I swear every IT person I've called has this super power

...if it identifies a pathway it can claim to be legal

Based on everything else they have done ignoring legality, I have very little faith they won't just start doing it anyways.

I'm really, really good at peeling oranges with my bare hands (or at least I used to be in grade school when all my friends would make me do it for them). The problem is, I hate the taste of oranges so I never use this power.

It hurts itself in its confusion

I download books from my library to my kindle. It goes through Amazon though, so I assume I am also impacted by this BS.

I just need to shout this into the void:

Fuck this fucking bullshit. What the hell is wrong with this country. I fucking hate this timeline.

My problem is basically every job opening I see gives less PTO than my current role (5 weeks, plus the company is shutdown the week between Xmas and NYD).

It's open enrollment time here at the company and I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the HSA contribution limits.

Mainly, my spouse and I each are eligible for an individual HSA. However the combined maximum of 2 individual accounts is more than the family limit. My question: is our combined max the family limit or the combo of 2 individual limits? My benefits HR person said it's the individual limits, but I'm skeptical.

Reposting from last week, since I posted late in the week...

What percentage salary increase would it take for you to accept a new job, assuming you are happy with your current job?

What percentage salary increase would you need to change jobs (assuming you like the one you're currently at)?

Context: I was reached out to by a recruiter for a role in my niche industry. It seems exciting, but accounting for the current benefits I have compared with the benefits at the new role, it would only be like a 10% raise at best. That doesn't seem like it would be worth it, but maybe I'm just looking for excuses to avoid change....

Oof. Got news today that a coworker in their 40s passed away this weekend. They worked Friday and died Saturday. If that's not a punch in the face to retire early, I don't know what is. I certainly want to have as much retirement as possible, and not die after slaving away for years without being able to enjoy it.

It's an unprecedented – and massive – experiment: Since 2017 the U.S.-based charity GiveDirectly has been providing thousands of villagers in Kenya what's called a "universal basic income" – a cash grant of about $50, delivered every month, with the commitment to keep the payments coming for 12 years. It is a crucial test of what many consider one of the most cutting-edge ideas for alleviating global poverty. This week a team of independent researchers who have been studying the impact released their first results.

I've always been a fencesitter when it comes to having kids. I'm getting to a point where I think I'd like to have a kid. I don't know if it's because I really want one, or there's just nothing major left on the list of life accomplishments and it's a societal expectation.

The thing is, I can think of a million and one reasons not to have one and can't put into words why I would want one. However, I'm starting to have a nagging feeling that I want to start trying. I just don't know if that feeling is something I actually want, or just society telling me I should.

It doesn't help that I don't have a lot of small children I regularly interact with, so I honestly don't have a clue what life would look like after kids, beyond it being a lot of stress and hard work. It also doesn't help my spouse says it's my choice and they'll go along with whatever I want .

Any advice or things that helped you know it was the right choice/time for you to expand your family?

I got my father-in-law for the family secret Santa this year. He's super into Marvel/comics and I was thinking of getting him a marvel/superhero themed board game he can play with the family. Google returned a bunch of different options for Marvel themed games, but I can't tell which are good or bad.

What games would you recommend for gifting?
