Amazon hasn't ruined invincible. I'd argue it's better than the comics and each season it's better than the last.

I don't know if this is true but i once read that when classifying lighter-than-air ships they broke them down into two categories. A rigid and B limp and that's where the name blimp comes from.

I've lost count of the number of times and number of formats in which i've consumed The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and i've loved it every time.

I have a few Reolink POE cameras(and poe doorbell) with an old mini pc running frigate, all on a battery backup so if the power goes for a bit the cameras and recording don't. I also have a coral tpu installed in the mini pc.

All of my cameras are blocked at the firewall from leaving the network and they function fully, 100% local. When i plugged in the poe cable the cameras grabbed an ip address and you can interact with them through that.

As others have said there is also a home assistant integration for reolink that let's you import and control the cameras from within home assistant as well as a frigate integration. I prefer having frigate on it's own box so when i need to reboot home assistant my cameras are still recording.

Once it's all set up you can have live video feed for each camera accessible within home assistant, on your dashboard if you like, as well as access to clips and continuous recordings depending on frigate configuration and storage capacity.

An option no doubt but there's two reasons i'd not want to go that route unless necessary. First, i already have the device on hand and would like to find a solution to what i currently have. Two, i'd like to keep zone based motion if i'm able. Second of these can still be achieved by getting more sensors and blocking them into the zones i want but for one of my current sensors i'd have to buy three new ones.

The thought had crossed my mind but i'd still like to zone if i could.

The sensor i have let's you set zones which work width wise but not height. What i would like to do, if able, is mount the sensor waist height or a little higher and block the top and bottom of the sensor so i only have the middle 20° being used. Can this be done with foil or metal?

The alarm went off so i turned it off.

Since you've got an open outlet you should consider putting a dehumidifier next to it with a drain that empties into the sump.

I hope someone else knows a better way to do this because it would appear it is somewhat possible but not easy.

Subsonic servers, such as navidrome, offer the ability to "SyncPlayQueue" via api to specific players, but in the case of navidrome that does not included the web player or music assistant for home assistant (the later is an assumption as i was unable to find a setting to enable it).

For those who don't care about home assistant they just need to find a player on the devices they want to transition music too and from that supports the feature.

For those who use home assistant and want to listen to music across devices you can transfer queue from within the music assistant player to a device added as a player or the app by picking "this device". That only works if you've been playing music from your phone on a smart speaker, the music queue being played via web isn't visible from the app and vice vera. It might be possible to set a web browser as a player to interact with but i imagine that would be a fragile setup at best.

Based on some older results i've found jellyfin isn't set up to save play location in songs but if you ran the music folder as audio books it will. Not sure what that'll do in regards to meta data but it's only half the problem. I'd just as soon give up the time stamp memory if i could get playlist save state.

Credit where credit is do plexamp is the best option for what i want to achieve, I just hate having to authenticate through them and report the activity occurring between internal addresses.

I opened my server via web browser and started playing music and when i opened the app on my phone it didn't show anything as playing. Either there's a plugin i need to install, a setting i need to change, or it's not an option with jellyfin.

I'm looking for a foss self hosted music service that will let me play music from my computer, my phone, and home assistant all while remembering where i was in the song and where i was in the playlist. Ideally it would be as simple as hitting pause on one and play on the other.

I'm looking for a self hosted calendar that supports multiple users, runs in docker, and is easy to integrate into home assistant and a phone app. Does anything like this exist or should i lower my expectations?

I've seen a couple articles about an android tv alternative and it's got me thinking about a streaming box again. A while back i gave kodi a try and didn't care for the experience. Granted, it was on a pi so expectations were low but it missed the mark for me. This time around i've got a modest nuc with proxmox i was thinking of moving to the living room and standing up a fresh vm of kodi to stream to.

I could just access the files over the network but i'm already running both plex and jellyfin so why not use either for my watch history. All that being said is kodi still my best bet?

Why proxmox? At some point down the road i'd like to get a capture card in the mix to stream games and that feels like the most flexible way to do everything.

I have a routine that plays an audio file on the top of every hour and it worked great for the first few days but lately the audio has been lagging or stuttering. At first i thought it was because i was using an old chromebook in kiosk mode but my home assistant voice is doing the same thing with voice replies. Any idea what could be causing this? Home assistant is being ran as a vm on my hypervisor and the audio file in question is an mp3 saved locally in the media folder on home assistant.

I'm duplicating my server hardware and moving the second set off site. I want to keep the data live since the whole system will be load balanced with my on site system. I've contemplated tools like syncthing to make a 1 to 1 copy of the data to NAS B but i know there has to be a better way. What have you used successfully?

For a time it was Fennic for addon support but now that Firefox mobile has addons are there better alternatives? Those of you on android, what's your go to?

Are there any other good modem movies that have black and white counterparts? The only other one i can think of is The Day The Earth Stood Still and the remake of that isn't even that good.

This question comes about as my really enjoying The Thing, finding out it had an earlier version, and then finding i enjoyed that version more and for different reasons. I'd love to branch out and watch more monochrome movies with modem ties.

I'll start off by saying everyone's economic situations are just as varied as their threat models and how people make decisions on which services can be specific to themself and not one that can apply to anyone else. The services one chooses to use for free or to pay for may be based more on what they can afford vs what's the best broad reaching plan.

That being said i'd like to see what others think about the proton suit of services. I've been eyeing it as an option for a paid service for a while but am hesitant to put all my eggs in one basket. I'm interested in a vpn, mullvad seems to be the other popular choice. I'm also interested in email address anonymizing service like anonaddy. At $5 for mullvad, $3 for anonaddy, and $3 for base proton email it comes out to a dollar more than protons premium tier which gets cheaper if you pay for 1 or 2 years at a time.

As said above would the biggest reason not to use proton for all of these separate services be not putting all your eggs in one basket?

I'm looking for a YR-DLP GUI for just music, or a good way to access music in general. I had a lidarr-on-steroids instance running but it kept disconnecting from deezer and i'd love to get that back up and running but it looks like it's not supported any more. Yt-dlp looks like a decent enough plan B, but i'm open to other discussion

I'm looking into self hosted and open source nvr options and frigate looks like the right fit for me. I'm curious what hardware others are running it on and how many cameras they have. How many people are running it in home assistsnt?

I'm looking for a google calendar replacement that isn't nextcloud, has a descent mobile app with widgets, and authentication built in. I've seen plenty of recommendations via search but i'd like to hear what you personally use and what you like about it.
