As a guy on the couch, I will very shallowly agree that half field reads and pre determined, instant screens bug the everloving shit out of me. When the get sniffed out they look SO god damned awful.

This is an oline problem, again, still always. Two ways. Teams with bad o lines give QBs less time, requiring QBs to process faster, duh. Teams with bad olines increase the importance of a top QB by weakening the running game.

Why has this happened? Because the guys that should be top tier o linemen all play dline. Dline men get sexy stats, recognition, and giant contracts; most o linemen hope their name isnt called by the announcer on Sunday.

Additionally, olinemen probably suffer the most from the reduction in padded practices in the last couple of CBAs.

Seahawks have a madden offense, all bombs and runs with no short passing game because you don’t trust yourself to make quick reads.

The three Seahawks plays:

1. Weird dee eskridge designed run
2. Bomb to DK.
3. Poorly blocked run for 2 yards.

Years into my fandom I try hard to remember that the narratives are so, so much larger than the game itself. They exist because there’s a whole industry out there.

The thing that happened happened on the football field in 60 minutes of playtime. What does it mean? That football team A beat football team B on day X.

There is so much statistical noise in football. And the ball is shaped funny, ya know?

I’ve been anti this take for a while…but teams need to rediscover running backs. It leaven things right out.
