JF1 has a 18.7 QBR in the final two minutes of every half played. Yikes.

Olu Fashanu and Joe Alt are great prospects and LT is a really important position, but Jones has been pretty solid this year. Is it worth it to use one of our picks on one of them if they’re there?

Maybe this depends more on what our other needs end up being and who’s available at that spot.

Book it. We will finish the season 10-7 and make a run in the playoffs. Bear down!

  1. Fields + Harrison Jr. and Laiatu Latu

  2. Williams or Maye and Latu

  3. Harrison Jr. and JJ McCarthy + Harbaugh

  4. Another option

I’d be torn between options 2 and 3, personally. I think Harbaugh would restore respectability to the organization and might be enticed by the opportunity to continue coaching McCarthy, who is still really young and moldable. It’s easy to forget the kid isn’t even 21 yet and can still add a lot of mass to his frame. Personally, I’m ready to move on from Fields and start over, too.

How come the announcers on Thursday Night Football are calling Roquan Smith the best linebacker in the league, but no one would call him that when he was on the Bears?

I know he's better and has always been better than Warner, Williams, or anybody else, but on the Bears he's only top 5 even though his stats were even better on the Bears.

At least the analysts should say they were wrong about Fred Warner being better or something! C'mon. He's even regressed a little since joining the Ravens.

And how did we get fleeced? Roquan wanted more money than we gave both the linebackers we had and wanted out anyway because we suck. I say a mid level second is a win. Not all teams get to unload Chase Claypool level players for the #32 pick. Ok.

And the fact is the trade isn't all that applies to the Bears. We gave up Roquan Smith. We got a second, a fifth, and a rental on Kline. But then because we didn't pay Roquan we got Edmunds and Edwards.

It's not a zero sum game in a trade. We traded the best linebacker in the league to fill out 4 holes on the worst defense in the league. Ultimately setting us up to also trade for and sign Sweat.

We traded Smith so we could have our current MLB1,WLB1, RDE1, SLB2, and RDT2 all on the roster performing well.

And this whole post is definitely copium because I loved Smith, but the Chiefs loved Hill, and they traded him to be able to field their now top 5 defense. And they have the 1 seed nearly locked up! We obviously don't have Mahomes, but we have a chance to be a good team in the future with where we are both on the roster and in terms of draft capital in large part because of the Smith trade.

Of course if the coaching and Claypool trade are any indication, we're gonna screw it up, but at least we have a chance. Especially if the Panthers continue to suck.

watching this game sure makes me wish we had a certain Harbaugh to pair with a dynamic QB with amazing arm talent to pair with terrifying wheels

Do people who say this not realise that that means he combined for 3 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in the rest of his starts this year? Or how about "we averaged 30 PPG in a 5 week stretch." Fields averaged 20 ppg last year. How many games did he put up 10?

Excellent article on the one that got away. Interesting insights on the influence that Ray Lewis has had on Smith (especially given that Lewis learned a lot of the mental game prep from former Bear Mike Singletary) and how Roquan is now being viewed as a Ray Lewis presence on the current Baltimore D. I remember being upset about the Bears trading Wilbur Marshall (knowing that he still had a lot left in the tank) but this feels like a much larger loss. Don't get me wrong, I 100% understand why he did not want to stay and am happy he's achieving both success and acknowledgements.

7 games left. 7 games to decide if we're firing the staff into the sun. 7 games to decide if Fields is the guy. Assuming no major injuries EX: Fields, Moore, Sweat

How will we finish?

My prediction

Lions: L

Vikings: W

Lions: W

Browns: W

Cardinals: W

Falcons: W

Packers: W

I think we finish 6-1 if everyone stays healthy

So, I don’t think Flus is a good head coach. I think he the defense improving and could/is a good d coordinator but the guy can’t seem to manage the whole thing. I see a lot of people saying that if the team improves over the last 6-7 weeks he could keep his job.

I disagree and point to one reason why I would bet Flus is fired. Hard Knocks.

No team wants to be on it, I guess for distractions. I know the bears don’t want everyone to see the shit show that is there incompetent organization.

The criteria is: you can opt out if: you have made the playoffs the last 2 years, have a first year head coach, or have been featured on hard knocks the last 10 years.

By my calculations it leaves 5 teams eligible as of now.

Bears packers Broncos Commanders Patriots.

Ron Rivera is gone after this season , and talks of belicheck leaving or stepping down leave 3 teams.

Bears will fire flus to not have to be on Hard Knocks, that and the fact he sucks at coaching.

Thoughts?

This has been a failure form top to bottom and it isn't fair for Fields to be the scapegoat for incompetent coaching and roster building. Poles and especially Flus have shown nothing to suggest they deserve to get their hands on a young QB prospect and we should not let these fools have the future of our franchise in their hands. Let a new coach and gm come in and select their guy.
