ARGH. I give up, 3 hours of sleep really isn't enough to be able to force my brain to understand log transformations and regression curves all over again. I've taken hours to make some key amendments to other parts and make some notes... but once it hits 4pm I'm outta here. Try again tomorrow.

Probably also gotta accept the hit of $10 and toss out that juicy salmon fillet I bought on Saturday evening and didn't get around to making for some stupid reason (too busy making prawn curry on Sunday... too busy being a trash goblin on Monday and Tuesday). Boo. Whatever. Zzzz.

12 hrs wouldn't help me so don't feel too bad :)

If only it were as simple as picking up a log and giving it a few chance meetings with a sharp blade.

Is it because it’s already turned bad, or because you won’t have time to cook it? Fish in foil is very quick if it’s still good

Edit: Ah yeah 5 days is a bit long

I haven't gotten around to actually opening it and smelling it yet, but I suspect 5 days is far too long. Kicking myself because that was my $10 splurge treat. Oh well, swings and roundabouts, I'm sure I saved $10 on something else the other day...

Yeah, oh well. Maybe something else delicious will be on special!

Yep! Perhaps if I get through some big thesis tasks on Friday I'll see if there's any NZ king salmon on special on Satdee at the butchers/fishmongerers in nearby suburbs... Or maybe I'll just snack on 5 tins of sardines.

Yeah, it’s like being jet lagged without the fun travel bit

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Totally. And I don't even have that much of a sense of satisfaction (like, it would be worth it if I made some major progress for all those hours, it's some but I realise it's the tip of the iceberg gah).

Ended up having one more crack at the plots and spat out something so at least I don't need to think about it so much tomorrow and can talk about it again with my supervisor in the afternoon.

I have a sinking feeling there will be a few more of these before I finally get that final round of "IT'S DONE" and go on some daylong bender on -6 hours of sleep

[–] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Even getting a little bit done is something! Sounds like you’re nearly at the end?

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 2 points 1 month ago

Hohooo boy no I'm at maybe 30% at best in terms of the actual writing.

But am I near the end of this experience? Yep, just 6 weeks before the real final deadline. I just want to get this thing done and move on.

Yar, I finally just got home after a long phone call in the car and that fish is going in the bin. Next time, I guess! Thanks for the extremely timely link.

(I'm so used to mostly cooking with vegetables that last a lot longer...)
