I remember when I was a kid, I got down on one knee and prayed for a more interesting world like those in my hero comics.
I wish I could go back in time and strangle that little shit
When as a child I would complain "I'm bored". My parents would reply "Ancient Chinese curse - may you live in interesting times."
Nothing Chinese about it, but it was meant to blanket it in perceived mystery and wisdom so you thought about its meaning before dismissing it.
When I was a kid and learned about the fall of Rome I was like "Yeah, but how cool would it have been to have been alive then and witness the history first hand?"
