I kinda wonder what threats he used to get FIFA to do so, having ICE arrest Belgium?

Or is this a thing any host country can do? Could Germany have had Zidine Zidane released in 2006?

FIFA is the same organization that invented a bullshit "peace prize" to give Trump. Apparently FIFA is the sort of organization that doesn't need threats to french Trump's asshole. They'll do that for free.

What's more likely:

Trump is some uniquely likeable guy and FIFA just couldn't help themselves show how grateful they are for Trump existing.
FIFA observed Trump is a child who could throw a tantrum at any moment and do serious damage to the organization if not constantly flattered.

Of course they could always just not associate with him. If you're not standing right next to Trump at all times he forgets you exist.

Trump was going on about imposing tariffs on the UK for enforcing tax laws that have been on the books for ages, only he's just found out about them, UK government totally ignored the tantrum, so now he's forgotten about it.
