My calculations when i was working in a factory came out to about a 97.65% loss on my labor. Every piece i made was sold for $75, took me about a minute to make, and included about 7 other people to sell (oven, paint, quality inspection, forklift to trailer, forklift off trailer, stocker, cashier), 3 more if you include the parts before me (material procurement, forklift to trailer, and the same guy as before to take it off the trailer)
I made easily 90 parts an hour, and was paid $25 an hour regardless of output. I paid 15% on taxes (fed, state, local) because im married and my wife cant work. The quarterly pizza party or $100 bonus was absolutely not worth the cost of my labor.
