sorry if this is against the rules but what is this community for? i don’t know what a chapo, vaush, or nautilism means, the sidebar isn’t much help either.

i don’t know what a chapo, vaush, or nautilism means

please help us

[–] Great_Leader_Is_Dead@hexbear.net 35 points 2 years ago

i don’t know what a Vaush means

You lucky fucker

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 26 points 2 years ago

You have no idea how free you are, never learn what those words mean

[–] moonlake@hexbear.net 23 points 2 years ago

This is the biggest online community about reality shifting. We are desperately trying to shift into the reality in which Hilary Clinton is the president planet-hillary

[–] Ho_Chi_Chungus@hexbear.net 23 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You wound up in the weirdo commie corner of the internet. Exit is back down the hallway where you came, second door from the left. If you'd like to stay, there's a Leninist literature study session in room 3B that starts in 20 minutes

[–] vexikron@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Can you direct me to where the Trotsky flavored Ice Pick is on display?

[–] Ho_Chi_Chungus@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

that's somewhere at the international spy museum

[–] vexikron@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 years ago

Can we make it so Ocean's 14 is about stealing it?

[–] Maoo@hexbear.net 17 points 2 years ago

Welcome to our weirdo corner of weirdos. Hang out a bit and it'll slowly make sense lol.

This is the de facto general purpose community on hexbear. Named after the subreddit the site spawned from, and the podcast titled Citations Needed.

Please keep in mind that funny-clown-hammer is a bannable offense.

[–] PM_ME_YOUR_FOUCAULTS@hexbear.net 16 points 2 years ago

This comm is mostly used for stuff that doesn't fit into other comms and shitposting. Hexbear was originally called chapo.chat because it was founded by refugees from when Reddit banned the chapotraphouse sub, which is where this comm gets its name

Vaush is a really shitty politics and debate streamer. Anti-natalism is the idea that it is immoral to have children.

[–] ProfessorOwl_PhD@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago

ChapoTrapHouse is a fan community for the Citations Needed podcast. Vaush is an internet personality who lobbies NATO to let him fuck children. Natulism is a 28 year old thoroughbred racing horse from Australia that had 10 wins across 53 races, winning a combined half a million australian dollareedoos.

[–] VHS@hexbear.net 14 points 2 years ago

this is just our catch-all general comm on hexbear. named for Chapo Trap House the podcast. "Anti-nautilism" should be "anti-natalism". Vaush (yuck) is a disgusting creep, US politics twitch streamer, and we got sick of hearing/talking about him

[–] PointAndClique@hexbear.net 13 points 2 years ago

Chapo
V*ush (he sucks big time)
Nautilism --> natilism. Anti-natilism is basically don't have children.

[–] HornyOnMain@hexbear.net 10 points 2 years ago

chapotraphouse is a podcast that quite a few people on this instance like because hexbear was initially set up as on online version of r/chapotraphouse after it got banned on reddit for "promoting violence" after the mods and a large portion of the users said that it was a good thing that John Brown killed confederate slaveowners. This comm became the general comm for hexbear a few years ago, and the rules reflect things that have caused arguments in the past. Vaush is a streamer that is considered quite controversial in leftist circles and is generally disliked by the user base here, and anti-natalism is the belief that its morally wrong to have children which is controversial because a lot of the defenders of anti natalism often accidentally use eco fascist concepts to justify their beliefs.

Imagine if some people who used to be on somethingawful or /pol/ on 4chan until roughly the shia le bouf HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US saga, did not go /completely/ insane and eventually ended up on lemmy.

That is my best guess so far.

[–] JohnBrownNote@hexbear.net 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

sort of, but more communist and way, way more gay

[–] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago

The grandchild of LF/FYAD and Weird Twitter, and the child of CTH and GenZedong or something.

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 9 points 2 years ago

I kinda like this as a tagline, Idk...

[–] silent_water@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

this is a fan community for the citations-needed and Blowback podcasts. you should try as hard as possible to never learn what those words mean.
