Keen eyed observers will note that although the hand made sign says that they are reserving this parking spot for memorial day, in fact it is always reserved for Veterans anyway.

Is being a boot like being a service dog? Do I need to show my papers when parking or can I just say I’m a veteran and tell whoever is asking to fuck off?

[–] the_itsb@hexbear.net 22 points 1 year ago

You can park in them. I do it all the time, and nobody ever asks me about it.

All you have to do is look up the MOS number or whatever it's called for some really boring military job like logistics, public affairs, or some other random bullshit that no-one is going to bother verifying. Stealing valour is easy and everyone should do it for the perks, only dumbasses that actually want the "respect" that comes with being a troop impersonate seals and rangers. Be smart, claim to be the regimental prophylactic supply sergeant or something, and park in whichever veterans spot you want

I was MOS 42R. Thank me for my service.

lmao.. i love that. Thank me for my service!

A kid I went to high school with joined the navy and was gone for 4 years. I left the town immediately after high school but he reached out to me to tell me he was back from his adventures on the high seas and went back to our high school in full uniform just to walk around and get his thank yous for his service. He was also quite upset that he didn't get many thank yous but did get a lot of weird looks.

At college there were these people who would wear full uniforms to school (ROTC candidates I think?).

I had a former marine that was in most of my group projects that I'd get lunch with sometimes and even he said people who wear uniforms in public are made fun of by most vets.

Yeah, it's a pretty douchy thing to behold really.

ROTC kids are the biggest fuckin losers and it's really funny that they get shit on at basic of they so much as mention it

I specifically park in the military service spots.
