Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

https://www.theguardian.com/food/2024/apr/14/its-catastrophic-italian-restaurants-in-london-struggle-to-find-staff-post-brexit

People come to the restaurant for the Italian food and have commented that it’s strange to not have as many Italian staff as would be expected any more. This is catastrophic for the industry.

imagine how horrible the UK is now, that people are going back to Italy for more opportunity

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 3 points 1 year ago

I know people considering going back to third world countries just to own a home.

gotta say its kinda weird to me to expect italians in an italian restaurant in london but i guess thats the sort of thing you can do when you're united europe

[–] assyrian@hexbear.net 63 points 1 year ago (1 children)

yeah, Italian restaurants should be run by people whose only connection to Italy is from 4 generations ago and saying gabagool

bringing her expertise and love of italian cuisine

only an expert in italian food knows, for example, how to cook pasta using the traditional italian method of boiling it in water

[–] ArsenLupin@hexbear.net 31 points 1 year ago (4 children)

I know you're half joking, but there are other methods of cooking pasta. For example all'Assassinna is pretty delicious!

That's the pasta a person makes for ye while they prepare to garrote ye...

[–] DyingOfDeBordom@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] Sons_of_Ferrix@hexbear.net 25 points 1 year ago

Oh trust me they will lecture you on the proper method of boiling pasta. And you can indeed do it wrong believe it or not.

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

Just import some Italian-Americans! They're just like Italians except more obnoxious!

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Lol, there's a chain of "Italian American" themed restaurants here in the UK called Frankie and Benny's.

There's pictures of some fake family on the walls doing stereotypical things like boxing and eating spaghetti and there's a loop of basic Italian lessons always playing in the toilets. The foods pretty good though as far as chain restaurants go.

[–] regul@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

All the "Italian" waiters I know are Bulgarians that know stupid Brits can't tell the difference. One might be Armenian. One even opened his own Italian restaurant.
