One thing I would do is use my water bending powers to open a house painting business (interior/exterior and cabinets). I would promise completely perfect results in 1 day or less with the caveat that the customer cannot be home for 'safety' reasons. Oh! I could partner with an air bender and we could have places completely painted, not a drop spilled, and completely dry in 1 hour or less. Without even over charging people we could do so much volume we'd make bank!

I may or may not be painting right now and hating reality.

That only works for water based paints. What would you do when the customer want oil based paint to be used?

Oil benders are only rare because of the fire nation.

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Is it only water specifically?
Couldnt it also apply to oil because it's fluid based?

[–] RandomStickman@kbin.run 8 points 1 year ago

Exactly what a bender can bend has been talked to death through out the years but I don't think a water bender can bend oil. An earth bender can bend lava, a fluid. A water bender can bend ice, a solid.

I feel like this is a very philosophical question. Like Toph bended metal, but metal is but one component of earth. Water and oil don’t mix unless under certain circumstances and oil isn’t recognized as being a part of water.

Toph can only bend metal due to the impurities in it; highly purified titanium can't be metalbent

Fire nation: Write that down WRITE THAT DOWN

Hm. I think we'd just have to specify our special and unique process only works with water-based paints and primers. Could get away with the hybrid paints though and I think there's good enough hybrid primers to make it work.

I'd earthbend the dopest rock house. Also farming just got a lot cheaper for me.

Blood bending to kill anyone who's near enough to see me using it (as soon as they look away)

[–] Schadrach@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They don't need to die - you could just blind them essentially the same way.

Earthbend sand into everyones eyes

[–] Nemo@midwest.social 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, first I'd google what atla bending was. Then we'll see.

Avatar The Last Airbender

Bending refers to elemental telekinesis

[–] Nemo@midwest.social -1 points 1 year ago

Ah right. Well I suppose the first thing would be to get my long skinny blue ass back to Pandora.

[–] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I would go somewhere where I could build a castle, complete with a moat and some torches, and hope I'm a certain fanon version of the avatar.

[–] JackGreenEarth@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You're not the avatar, you just have all the bending powers in the avatar universe.

[–] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] JackGreenEarth@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

There are other aspects to being the avatar, such as the avatar state, the avatar cycle, the spiritual abilities, none of which you would have. Also, the avatar's bending powers work even when others watch them do it.

Make popcorn in my hands, probably.

I'd use airbending to make sure I had a tailwind everywhere I rode my bike, and earthbending to make the wheels spin faster.

Also, waterbending just for hydration and keeping rain off of me.

I guess firebending for when it gets cold or when a vehicle tries to murder me.

Avatar: The bicycle commuter.

I'd probably use it to terraform certain urban and suburban places to be more hospitable to wildlife and humans living together. Like guerilla gardening and banksy mixed together.
