You jesus hating degenerates!

I only talk one language at a time!

[–] frezik@midwest.social 8 points 7 months ago (2 children)

And it's English, just like Jesus spoke.

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 5 points 7 months ago

Citation needed

As a good Lutheran, I read the bible and Jesus speaks German all the time

Now slow down there buckaroo.

I said I only speak one language at a time.

Men have needs. And I need many languages to keep me satisfied. I’m a good christian though so I only speak one at a time.

(/s, although my native language is not english)

I think it's in reference to how bi people are often told they are being "greedy" for wanting all/both sexes rather than just having the '"one" the speaker expects. This usually then leads to the misguided conclusion that they are promiscuous and unfaithful - https://lgbtqiacounseling.com/bisexual/bisexual-stereotypes/#Bisexuals_are_Greedy_or_Unable_to_Commit

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 15 points 7 months ago

"It's just a phrase" you mean!

I experimented with French for four years in late high school/early college, but didn't we all? I feel like I got it out of my system. I don't even really think about that stuff anymore.

Me, trying to sound cool as an aromantic asexual atheist:

Actually I'm alingual as well

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 9 points 7 months ago (1 children)

aromantic

I had to read that several times to understand how organic chemistry relates to your post.

[–] EldritchFeminity@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Can't somebody smell nice without having to bring chemistry into the equation?

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago

Hum... Actually, no.

Something something "tower of Babel."

[–] affiliate@lemmy.world 9 points 7 months ago (2 children)

it’s actually impossible to be bilingual because you can only ever be speaking at most one language at a time

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago (1 children)

"Do you speak both English and Spanish?"

"No."

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 5 points 7 months ago

"What about Czech?"

[–] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 4 points 7 months ago

Language hybrids and creoles exist, you could make an argument that those are "speaking two languages at the same time"

Bilingual people do sometimes speak in a mixture of multiple languages to people who speak the same languages

[–] MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz 8 points 7 months ago (4 children)

So what am I, being trilingual?

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 16 points 7 months ago
[–] OrnateLuna@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

You are even more confused, there are only 2 languages

[–] MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz 6 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

Aw fuck. Which one is made-up?

You better be Mormon. Polyglotimy is only allowed for them for some reason.

I'm up!

What about three trilinguals at the same time?

[–] AeonFelis@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago (2 children)

What's "heterolingual"? You can only talk to people who speak a different language than the one you use?

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 11 points 7 months ago

Like Han and Chewbacca.

Pidgins are languages in their own rights. Maybe code switching would fit better but actually no, that's on the spectrum of bilingualism.

Edit: since pidgins (unlike creoles) aren't used as primary languages, I guess I now get what you mean
