USA planes are gonna get banned from international flights at this point.

It was a bombardier (Canadian) plane btw

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social -3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Canadian manufacturer, but took off from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. I assume a maintenance issueis the cause, but that may be a poir explanation.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

It is a poor explanation, because all signs point to pilot error in manual landing compounded by weather. 33kt cross wind gusts, coming in fast to accommodate for if the gusts disappear, and not flaring soon enough and not leveling out because of crabbing the cross wind which was blowing snow across the runway giving poor visibility of the runway itself. But we’ll see the investigation results.

Mhm. Yep. Ohhh. I know some of these words.

He is speedrunning isolation if this happens. US and EU relations are already at their breaking point after. Threatening to go to war with Denmark and his Ukraine visit.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 4 months ago

putins plan is working perfectly, causing disorginzation in america, and the rest of world, so they cant concentrate on things like ukraine and putins internal politics.

I think reverse might happen as well. Airlines from other countries might refuse to fly to USA.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 months ago

Both: Airlines from other countries refuse to fly in US airspace because of dangerous ATC and planes from the US are refused entrance in the airspace of other countries because the FAA isn't trusted to enforce proper maintenance schedules on planes from US companies and other countries don't want the additional cases of planes falling from the sky or crashing on landing that would result from de facto unregulated air travel safety in the US.

Also Boeing sales would suffer if the FAA was officially deemed in other countries to not have equivalence with their local air-travel regulators when it came to oversight of plane manufacturing because it wasn't actually doing the job of preserving the safety of air-travel.

sounds like a good thing.

I vote we let Boeing design a brand new plane for Trump. Make sure it has all the bells and whistles. Add a co pilot seat for Musk.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 8 points 4 months ago

Your mention of a co pilot reminds me, Boeing should add AI to such a vehicle! It would surely enhance Trump's experience.

So much so, it should be tied directly into the flight controls, to make sure it's as smooth a ride as possible.

[–] qaz@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Boeing is the only true American company, it has what the pilots crave

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

The plane was Bombardier, not Boeing. Bombardier is Canadian even. But l don’t think the plane was any cause of the crash as i laid it in other comment in this thread

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

The CRJ line have always had pretty shitty safety records (comparatively speaking). I try to only fly Airbus, but I'm about 99% resolved to not fly anywhere under Trump's FAA.

[–] alexc@lemmy.world 23 points 4 months ago

Both the funniest and most wished for idea this year!

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 8 points 4 months ago (2 children)

God I need to learn how to lucid dream.. okay I know how, but I need to get better at it

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (2 children)

wake up and go back to sleep.

guides are available online, and a film touching the topic exists : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waking_Life

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 1 points 4 months ago

Yes... yes... I should

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

What is the point? The moment I'm aware, my dreams get boring or terrifying

[–] TseseJuer@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

if you are aware you can do anything you want. quite literally at the snap of a finger. I was able to fly in one lucid dream

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I tried that and the dream just...ignored me basically. Sometimes that just turns the dream terrifying.

[–] TseseJuer@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

same here bro. had a terrifying exp that time. i left a comment not tooblong ago on another post describing what happened if you wanted to take a gander at it

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Keep a dream journal and write down anything you remember immediately when you wake up. Re-read them before bed and it trains your brain to remember more detail. No point having lucid dreams if you don't know about it afterward.

[–] Kompressor@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Idk man in that analogy our plane never flies ever again and is just a smoking fucked up broken mess where it was supposed to land. Doesn't seem that great lol

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The rest of the world would be quite pleased though.

No more giving weapons to terrorists, only for them to turn out to be terrorists.
No more overthrowing diplomatically elected governments because they got in the way of some oil drilling.
No more invading other countries, spending 10 years stomping around, then leaving it worse than it was when they started.

[–] match@pawb.social 5 points 4 months ago

it was 20 years for the afghanistan war actually

[–] boydster@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 months ago

Me, too, James. Me, too.

[–] Panamalt@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago

People are already not surviving, literally and figuratively, the time has long since come and gone to "hope" the problem isn't real. The problem very much here, and it is absolutely going to kill us unless we do something about it right fucking now.
