If you create an AI That's obviously programmed to avoid blaming Nazis for things you're probably a fucking Nazi

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 36 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is just a guess, But I'm thinking that it's the filters that are placed on the AI that's trying to make it be this milquetoast, ultra nice, uncondemning, servile and spineless thing rather than that there's an explicit "Be nice to the Nazis" thing.

You would probably get similar answers out of almost any evil hate group that you queried it about.

Once again, this is my assumption. I'm not attempting to apologize for the AI or the AI creators. I'm just saying that this seems like it might be what is happening.

To follow up with this, I personally do not think that AI should be telling people who do not already have an opinion on something, how to think.

That is the responsibility of the instructors and society.

That being said, it should also not present known falsities as valid topics of debate.

I don't know what the prompts were. I do not know what the answers were. These are just general statements.

I'm personally of the opinion that it is societally appropriate to punch Nazis when you encounter them, and that the world would be better if any person that is a Nazi or adheres to Nazi or Nazi-adjacent ideology were to die, and I would prefer that every other human being thinks the way that I do.

My responses are a mere quibble.

Either a nazi or a mormon... Close enough.

Either a Nazi or a Mormon

Both.

Get your brethren in line!

This is an insult to all of those who suffered and died under the Nazis.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 36 points 1 month ago (2 children)

And an insult to those who lost their lives or their sanity fighting the nazis.

My grandfathers both killed lots of Nazis and came home. They're rolling in their graves right now

Remote, all kids on the computer, talking to unfeeling machines... We're cooked...

I was hoping it's clickbait. No.

"Bot was seemingly trained to not blame"

When the story is so outrageous that clickbait becomes unnecessary.

Somehow this is even worse than the public schooling I got in Idaho. At least with little to no education with Anne Frank I was compelled to do some of my own research instead of being fed hot garbage as fact

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 10 points 1 month ago

Kids shouldn't blame anyone for the what Israel does in Gaza too!

[–] csh83669@programming.dev 8 points 1 month ago

I mean, it’s not like it’s a big conspiracy. LLM’s are just GIANT and expensive text predictors. They don’t “understand” or “know” anything. They just grabbed some off the shelf model that had a millions piece of training data that looked vaguely like “be polite, don’t pin blame” and then that was mushed with a bunch or Anne frank books. The resulting bastard child is this clueless, generic nothing burger that’s slightly predisposed to plagiarizing Anne Frank’s words if the stuff it was asked vaguely looks like something in its training data.

scans article for where this is

Ah. Utah. Okay so it looks like there's a generation of problems coming from there, now

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

It’s generational problems all the way back until you hit the Ute and Shoshone days. Fuck the Mormons.
