...and I'm sure the alarm will accomplish something this time. The past thousand or so alarm soundings with no action or results have all been flukes.

I'm waiting for the alarms to ever wake Americans up honestly. Easy to blame a party but seriously, will America ever wake up?

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

will America ever wake up?

We recently elected one of the most vile humans to walk this earth, not in spite of, but because of his open malice. We're not asleep. We see what's happening, and most American voters can't get enough of it, cuz we're nearly as vile as the orange Nazi we just put in charge.

So... no, probably not.

Oh damn, another one sounded? Maybe we'll get Schumer to frown at Trump next time, that'll show em!

It's ok, it's not like NYCs water supply is almost entire supported by aging reservoirs in a faraway, upstate land that is notorious for floods.

Perhaps he will write a strongly worded letter

[–] eddanja@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Time for another strongly worded letter??

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 11 points 1 month ago

Oh no! I bet at least TWO Letters WILL Be Written NOW along with FOUR Donation Texts!

consider he already has ignored gop states as well, blue states will also ignored.

[–] mjhelto@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

Difference is that red states tend to take more federal aid than blue states. That approach to holding aid hostage will hurt all, but not as bad in blue states.

Dems will then ask us for money because that will totally help

[–] PortoPeople@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

In a corrupt system, nothing is more important than money. Where money is power, if you have none, then you have none.

All these comments are making fun of Democrats for "sounding the alarm," but what the fuck do you want them to do?

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

They could stop voting to confirm Donnie's appointments for one.

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 month ago

And what's next, fight for the people who elected them? Smh, damn entitled voters, wanting the opposition party to be an opposition! This is why Trump won!!1!1 /s

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee 11 points 1 month ago

They can start by not rubber stamping the fascist political appointees that are doing these things, for starters.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 month ago

Anything more than what they're doing.

What we elected them to do.

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What we voted them into office to do? It's not that hard to think.

[–] DrollerCoaster@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Define "we". Dems do not have a majority in either the House or Senate, so there's not really much they can do.

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

Republicans in minority: Gumming up the system, filibuster, make no concessions, forces the Democrats to work with them.

Democrats in minority: We've tried nothing and we're out of ideas.

Maybe they don't vote yes on Trump's censorship bills? Maybe they refuse his cabinet picks? Just a thought they represent the people who voted them in. Wild idea, I know.

[–] HighFructoseLowStand@lemm.ee -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So, voting against this shit, which they're doing?

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

I don't think voting in approval of KOSA, Trump's cabinet picks, and pretending to vote No when you actually vote Yes is "voting against this shit".
