All armed forces are probably on a permanent anxiety attack with everything drone related that's happening in the war in Ukraine.
Outside of keeping everything in deep bunkers there's not much defense possible against all the attack vectors drones open up.

I mean, a moderately solid brick building would have stopped this attack. Not even a hardened shelter, just a garage would have worked.
A competent pilot would've flown in throw the garage door, or down a chimney, or through a window. That's the terrifying thing about drones, they are extremely maneuverable. They can be positioned in the precise point to make the most damage to the target.

It's not really the plane's fault, even a solid roof would've helped. Also the tu-95 is far from the most expensive.
And to be fair to the old thing, tu-95's job description never included countering small drones, nor should any other plane be concerned with that, while on the ground at least. It's not their job simply. Don't judge a fish by how well it climbs a tree and all that.
The major downsides (be it quads or fixed wing) are connectivity and payload weight. There is progress of course, but they can't do every job in the world, and if you increase the scope of their responsibilities, the price goes up as well.
