Strays ate from a plate I was holding!

It doesn't sound like much, but this is huge.

Edit: The spinny butterfly toy is getting a hell of a workout from Gibson.

Aldi garlic dip is no joke, 38% garlic! It is SPICY from the garlic. Recommend if you wanna tasty treat that will also protect you from vampires and other people in general

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 5 days ago (3 children)

You can add it into dishes too instead of using raw garlic. I like to spread it on a piece of bread then add cheese and airfry it.

That stuff is fuckin' crack. Goes oddly great with doritos!

So nice coming inside to a warm house.

Today was meant to be a uni work day but I genuinely couldn't get up until 11am, it's effing miserable out there, and Sox has been glued to me ever since, so I'm taking that as a sign to cancel my vague offer to help a relative tomorrow and use that to get on with my writing instead. Maybe I'll do some more reading this arvo though.

I'm also not normally much of a soup person, but this weather definitely calls for one. I'm thinking kidney beans, leeks, carrot, tamatah paste and the orzo lying around in the cupboard. Maybe some roast fennel.

little front sox

Love this silly girl even though she is HORRIBLE for productivity and just let out a tremendous fart

It was a day for sleep. I wanted to catch up on a bunch of stuff but napped all afternoon. I have listened to this part of my audiobook about three times because I keep falling asleep! Good luck with it tomorrow 💪🏻

Lady kitty says hi.

Mr Woof spent about four hours last night running in and out stressed out and looking for me. He was very happy when I got home, and hopefully will be a bit more relaxed tonight. And hopefully I will be a bit more relaxed too, knowing he's ok.

The positive outcome is that he is now confidently using the dog door in both directions and no longer requires my dog door midwiffery to get up the courage to go through.

Miss Meow was also a bit stressed at having me out all night - she spend an hour or so in the early hours of the morning searching for me. Both of them were glued to my side in bed after I got home.

Edit to add exciting video footage of Mr Woof mastering the dog door

That's so cute! Glad they're feeling better :)

How is it that tedious chores are easier in video games than rl? But I’m stealing the concept of ‘doing dailies’.

If I can do even just one annoying thing each day, no matter if that’s all that gets done, then that should start to add up to a clean mostly empty flat. And if it doesn’t then it prevents things from snowballing (especially in a small place).

I’m staying on Mts Wash and Dishmore, shredding paperwork, and slowly weeding out various things to declutter. There’s a bunch of different places for unwanted stuff to go but I’m just putting them aside for when I get a lift.

When life is less chaotic then I begin to sell things.

[–] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 5 points 5 days ago

One annoying thing a day is a good idea. I'm going to steal it. If my executive function works with me.

At the same shopping centre where this week’s pumpkin projectile happened to me and I witness another loud confrontation between staff v shoplifter, this time at Aldi. I kept my distance and eyes on them the entire time. What is happening though? Twice in a week while I’m here. I honestly don’t feel that safe coming here anymore.

Edit - I was influenced and purchased the garlic dip. Garlic bomb incoming 😶‍🌫️

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I’m sorry bro, there are parts of Melbourne that are especially cooked now. Poverty, drugs and lack of support services are really causing a crunch and leading to increased shoplifting and aggression.

It might be worth going somewhere else, another area if possible

Sorting out my trip to Adelaide!!!!!!!

Fuck yes!

I got:

A fancy toothbrush (that has Bluetooth and an app for some reason)

New sheets

A jacket

A hoodie with a massive hood (took me weeks to find)

Massive amount of cat treats

Done and done.

almost mid-year crying tally updateYTD, I have "only" cried 34 times. This is compared to 72 times this time last year.

And I haven't cried in almost a month. Maybe my eyes have started to water since then, but I haven't counted it. A win is a win.

Read another book (High Wire by Candace Fox) and in the brief bit of Sun we had, went out. The Minipeelers swindled me somehow into going to a local cafe where the San Sebastian cheesecake and tiramisu are to die for. Both were lovely as usual. Am now alternating between beached whale mode and doing odd little tasks like a load of laundry.

I'm developing an addiction to Jarrah hot choccie. I blame this weather.

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 5 points 5 days ago

The Coles organic hot chocolate is incredible. I add a splash of pouring cream and vanilla syrup too. No, I have no self-control.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 7 points 5 days ago

I feel hungry, making two sorts of pasta and mixing it together tonight.

My cat snores louder than my human partner.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 9 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Gibson snores as loud as an ex I used to call snorasaurus rex

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

You can now call them snorasaurus ex.

P&H soup in crockpot - adequate quantities of garlic included. Kitchen smells amazing. Will be done by 6 pm I hope.

I fell asleep briefly watching Klute. I never fall asleep during the day ever. Perhaps I’m coming down with something

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 points 6 days ago (8 children)

Please help.

Do I:

Stay inside all day and lounge around

Go and do a massive food shop

Go and buy some new clothes

I'm leaving towards option 1.

Found out you can do donations to food banks via supermarket delivery but annoyed that by posting that I’m driving more business to Coles (when Coles and Woolies should be receiving a lot more scrutiny for price gouging and shrinkflation).

Hopefully a few more people will donate this way but it’s hiding a systemic issue (growing wealth inequality) and it’s always the big businesses that clean up when things go to shit. What a sucky balance.

If I had money and a car I’d probably hit up Aldi or IGA both for myself and when I could do donations

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

the savings from shopping at aldi make using public transport to get there and back cost effective

and so many hugs for you thinking of helping other people, again , you're a good person 😘😘😘

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Public transport isn’t very accessible for physical ability and also local safety issues. Also for working people time is an issue

Still sucks that I’m giving a sus grocery baron a plug (and using it)

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 5 days ago

The painting of the bedroom suite is taking a while but it's looking so good. I'll post pics when I'm done. 🙂

Grrr. I have to go out and buy stuff. Peas are soaking for P&H soup, but they won't be cookable for hours yet. I need a decent ham bone and some more garlic. Grrr. Some nice bread to have with soup would be good too. But hanging about won't make that happen so will grit my teeth and grin and bear it. Weather is (marginally) improving.

[–] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

My big plans for this morning involve the heater, the couch, and a large pot of tea.

When I trim my nails, I trim too close to the cuticle and end up getting an infection.

I have one now and the antibiotics are giving me a nasty headache.

Goodnight all :)

I didn’t end up taking the restavit because it expired last month… debating whether to take it tonight anyway and get a fresh box on Monday.

I’m sick of the sleeping pattern I’m stuck in. I do wake up but can’t seem to get up or do anything and end up going back to sleep.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 7 points 5 days ago (6 children)

IDK much about pharmaceutical chemistry, but I wouldn't be too concerned about the expiry date. They usually decided with a large error of margin. The sooner the company says something has 'expired' the sooner it needs to be replaced.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 5 days ago

The other aspect with the expiry date is it is generally about the chemical compounds breaking down and becoming less effective rather than it becoming unsafe to consume. So expired medications may not work quite as well as if they are in date but are not harmful.

Need to get up and out to the farmers market while there's a break in the rain but stuck under my blankets... What to do?
