A while back they had a German ad with a closet filled with blåhaj

[–] morgunkorn@discuss.tchncs.de 91 points 3 months ago

Yeah they might be onto something ;-)

“Ihr habt BLÅHAJ zum Symbol gemacht. Wir schwimmen mit Stolz an eurer Seite. Danke, Trans Community!”

I’ve finally learned what blahaj represents. That’s awesome.

It's bedroom, transformed to include the word "rule", as is the style in this Community.

That sharks are transgender?

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

I once asked what the shark is about. Their name is Blåhaj and the patron saint of the Blåhaj Zone Lemmy.

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Two Blåhaj?! In this economy?!?

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (6 children)

So, uh, what are the odds of two trans people sleeping together? I'm asking honestly. Seems a really unlikely combo.

[–] noli@lemmy.zip 29 points 3 months ago

(disclaimer: I'm a cis guy so take this with a grain of salt) Actually quite likely. Dating is hard for trans people because on one side there's a lot of bigotry/transphobia/... And on the other side trans people (especially trans women) have been fetishized, so I can imagine that the dating scene does not feel very safe. Combine this with the fact that other trans people tend to understand best what someone who's trans has lived through and it seems quite natural that trans people often date other trans people.

I have no idea on the statistics, but would consider this from the perspective of some other groups of individuals that commonly associate with each other. People with common backgrounds and experiences (actors, alcoholics, aristocrats, etc.) tend to be in each other's company. Coupling among them doesn't seem uncommon.

Mercury Stardust (trans handy ma'm) is married to a NB person, iirc, although I'm not sure if they consider themselves trans.

Honestly, more common than you'd think. A lot of trans people feel safer and less judged with other trans people than cisgender people

Seems like a charged question one already knows the answer to.
