Can effective action be taken to clean up the Fediverse?
The best answer for that is wide spread defederation, like how the rest of the triad (hex and Grad) is treated. The admins of .ml are hardcore Tankies and welcome this kind of content (see the megathread here https://lemmy.world/post/29072279 )
Unfortunately, the top admin also happens to be the Lemmy dev, so no major instance as of yet wants to burn that bridge.
Thank you, i read your post and there's a trade-off between not supporting lemmy development and not federating with lemmy.ml, it seems.
I guess the best course-of-action would be to make sure that lemmy gets developed properly, probably with a fork, but to defederate with the tankie triad, as you've already said.
Otherwise it's gonna shy away new users and get a "tankie" reputation.
Moving to Piefed is an option.

As much as I love AOC, and as much as I HATE MTG, she did put forward a bill to reduce how much we are sending to Israel and 4 progressives voted with her on it but not AOC.

Except it's not well reasoned at all. You give a genocidal fascist Nation $500 million dollars to spend on defense then they have an extra $500 million dollars to spend on something else. Wonder what they're going to spend it on? Giving Israel a missile Shield allows them to act with impunity in the region. They can attack whoever they want knowing that they can't be attacked back. Any funding or aid to a genocidal nation is funding genocide. That's just a fact.
It's reducing or it's still a bill sending $ / weapons. So if they phrased it like, here's a bill so instead of sending 3.8bil we send 3bil, to arm Israel. So therefore you are voting to send $ / weapons to Israel.
She wants that $ to be zero, or she won't endorse it. It's less, but less is still sending money / and or weapons to them. She would be voting for that. Even though it's a teensy bit less.
It's all about how it's phrased. They phrased it like she supports the genocide because she refused to vote for a bill that SENDS MONEY TO ISRAEL TO FUND THEM USING WEAPONS TO KILL CHILDREN. Sorry. I lost my cool there. Not cool. My bad.

I went through the !usa@lemmy.ml post history and a lot of posts by @geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml are factually skewed and very suggestive, such as this post suggesting that AOC is actually pro-genocide.
That's most of the .ml USA comm though. That's not really exceptional, unfortunately.

The closest you get could is bans from individual instances.
