Dropped Miniest off at school and went for a coffee and muffin, then decided I'd make good on my decision to get an air fryer. Wandered around checking out quite a few products I didn't like before I found one I was happy with the Minipeelers using. Brought it home, reorganised the kitchen to make it fit (so good to be in the kitchen without being interrupted ๐Ÿ˜†) and then went out again for a walk in the sun under the guise of doing grocery shopping. So far we've cooked chips, chicken wings and hash browns. They're interested in using it and happy with the results. Very happy with how I've spent my day ๐Ÿ˜ŠI could've been more self indulgent I guess, but then I'd just have eaten more cakes or something ๐Ÿ˜„

Edit: nice to see some of you took some me time and did enjoyable things. The weather was gorgeous!

I cheated and got a pizza for lunch/dinner.

I'm considering this an at home "spa day". Complete with drum kit and cat lol

Decided to take today to just do relaxing stuff. Last couple of days have been incredibly hectic with losing the job and studying like crazy for the interview last night.

Naps, reading, some pottering around the house and music works for me.

Hope everyone has a great day :)

i wanna sleep all day so bad

been achy all week, today I loosened bra straps

migraine just happened ๐Ÿ˜ โ˜น๏ธ

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

why is it migraines improve after chucking up

[โ€“] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 8 points 4 months ago (2 children)

There's a lot of conditions where your body isn't sure what's wrong so it makes you spew in case you've been poisoned. Once that's out of the way I reckon it relaxes a little.

Do not nap. It fucks up your night sleep. Keep busy and if you need a break do something relaxing but do not nap.

There is no greater feeling than looping a shitty metal riff and then playing your own somewhat out of time drums behind it lol

Edit: 2nd interview locked in, another place contacted me as well which is awesome!!!

Restoring my old childhood axe over the next few weeks. No manufacturer or any markings but it came from the grandparents place about 50 yrs ago according to ol' boy so who knows how old it is.

Being down here the salt air has not been kind. But the edge of it is remarkably in good shape given the abuse it took. Blunt as shit so time to change that.

one side untouched:

the other that's half done (taking forever):

Plan is to restore the edge using the Rag trick

Dinner

Lemon-pepper snapper with salad.

I didn't get the fish fully defrosted so oil spat everywhere while I was cooking. I had to do a full clean of the stovetop, benches and back wall.

I have a google speaker in the lounge playing music and I have the screen one in the kitchen. Now I know you can pair them so I touched the screen one in the kitchen, went with my gut and now there's music playing simultaneously from that too! I didn't press any wrong buttons and it took less than 20 seconds!

This is a win for me. ๐Ÿฅ‡

Today I found out that some people don't see images in their head or have an internal monologue.

Wild.

Couldn't imagine reading a book without it playing like a movie in my head.

Or the definitely funny internal commentary I'm making about my daily life lol

Apart from this and the other site, I don't use a lot of social media. Got an insta account which is mostly recipes and humour. When I scroll through reels I keep getting ads for life coaching and christian merch.

I get a fair of bit pleasure of leaving snippy comments in those profiles.

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

My personal rule is I never scroll up on things like reels. I'll watch YouTube shorts but I always back out and go to the main feed from there again

The conference is finally over. If anyone else has been to these types of work conferences, tell me if you've heard these before:

There's never been a more exciting time to be in your department/industry

You're the underdog and the rest of the organisation doesn't realise how important you are

How to get a seat at the table with business leaders

It kind of feels like these conferences are to tell everyone in a similar space how important they are and your workplace would collapse without you.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago

I suggest they pay employees for all the excitement and importance with extra money

I mean, they would collapse without you.

Hello everyone, what are you doing to get C-Suite buy-in on your B2B ecommerce strategy today?

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

sprays you with wolf urine

I assume C-Suite is the Cat? My Back to Bed ecommerce strategy is an online grocery delivery that's coming soon, so I do my shopping and nap simultaneously. The cat is fully on board after I provided a strategic breakfast and snack option.

Edit: Damn, I got buy in from the C-Suite, but not the D-Suite. B2B strategy has failed and I'm off to take Mr Woof for a walk in the lovely sunshine instead. C-Suite's implimented her own B2B strategy and is taking a nap in the window hammock.

  • Who made this circuit up for you, anyway?
  • You bought it in a shop?! Hoo, what a terrible job.
  • You've got your negative feedback coupled in with your push-pull input-output.
  • Take that across through your red-headed pickup to your tweeter ...
  • If you're modding more than eight, you're gonna get wow on your top!
  • You try to bring that down through your rumble filter to your woofer,
  • and what'll you get? Flutter on your bottom!!
  • Flanders & Swann (sometime in the 60s but still relevant to high tech today imo)

such a lovely day here

migraine is gone , had to reorganise some stuff but no big drama ๐Ÿ˜Š

visited Footscray, it reminds me of Rue de Wavre in Bruxelles, little African shops and cafes in every corner and arcade and a vibrant street life

Nope, too early!

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago

Groceries are in and put away. The delivery man was very nice and even had a treat for Mr Woof. Mr Woof refused to be distracted from his guard duties by mere food, but went straight for it the moment the delivery man left. Now I need to chop up the chickens into smaller pieces for the freezer, cut a few bits off the beef roast for the same thing, and work out a container to put the giant bag of bread mix into.

I also need to do some tidying in the front yard while the weather's good. I just bought a new edger attachment for the grass that will hopefully be a bit neater and easier than the whipper snipper.

[โ€“] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago

Am now in possession of a large quantity of Smurf coloured paint. Let the shenanigans begin.

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago

I've finisished the gardening for the day. The new edger works well and was less strain on my arms than the whipper snipper, as I hoped. It did take a while to do the front even though it's a small area because there are a lot of edges and things to work around. I ended up doing another run around the back yard too, which gave me more clippings to help weigh down the cardboard designed to smother the grass where the new beds will go. It's pretty bumpy out there which I'm hoping I'll be able to improve a bit in time. The grass at the front's a bit dodgy too - it had turf laid which is very healthy, but because it is on a slope the pieces moved apart a bit and there are ditches between them which need to be filled in. I think I'll do a topdress in Spring to try and get it a bit neater, and any extra soil can go on the nature strip which is a horrible mess of weeds, including a horrible flat spiky thing I have name the Rosette of Doom. There are also spiky gorse bushes around in a lot of the open land and naturestrips around so I want to try to make sure they don't get a foothold either.

I haven't been able to find the right words and articulate myself properly in speech. It is becoming really embarrassing. I think it could be long COVID because before I had COVID, I didn't have as much difficulty with words. The cogs were still turning before then, even if not amazingly, and my declining cognitive tempo is making me feel terrible about myself. I'm seeing the GP in a few days, and so I shall ask about doing a sleep study.

I overheard a bunch of med students today talking about how financially abundant they're going to be eventually and they're in it to make their parents happy, not because they care about helping people. They might turn out to be good doctors, but the training seems so fucked to the point where these people are getting their souls sucked out of them before consultancy.
