Fediverse vs Disinformation

1725 readers
156 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

Yes, it’s the left that incites violence.

Who the hell says something like that? Like, even in joking.

I had to look up if it was the same Fox dimwit who said “can’t we just euthanize them?” about the homeless. It’s a different guy.

Same network though.

Not only are they bad people, they some of the very worst of the worst.

They go out of their way to hurt others.

It's hard to imagine for sane people. They're simply not sane, so they're playing by a completely different set of "rules", where there are no rules.

The US need to be booted as a permanent member with veto rights

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago

They'd just veto their own expulsion.

Fox cannot go a week without inciting violence or causing distress. They need to be taken off the air and their license suspended for being a propaganda channel and never telling any facts. If the GOP can get SOOOO butthurt over Kamala having an SNL episode with a couple minutes on air, we MUST have the same from Fox otherwise they need to be sued.

The double standard never stops with these idiots.

Imagine how many innocent people these fascists would want to kill if he tripped over his shoelaces..

It's not funny when they're talking about "gassing" people for imagined crimes that didn't hurt anybody. A slight inconvenience = Death penalty?!?!!?

World would be far better off if US just quits the UN... at least as an alternative to destroying it. Ok, its an obstacle to genocide and US fasicm, we get it. Just close the building FFS. Let UN HQ move to a free(er) country. Fascist supremacism normalizes the "problem" that moving to another country would still allow them to speak against Israel. A bit shortsighted, but killing them all doesn't mean that the anti-zionazi hydra of the world will not nominate angrier representatives, and US will no longer have its pro genocide veto.

FYI, the US was never a free speech country. Only establishment controlled speech. That the boundaries of establishment permitted speech seem to have grown to absurd fascist extremism is simply that before, speaking against genocide was a pro zionist comment.
