There seemed to be a year or two in time when the Venn diagram of "public entertainment complex carpets" and "MS Windows 3.1 backgrounds" converged to a single circle before moving apart again.

That was peak hopes and dreams.

They're still used in cinemas, arcades, busses, or anywhere where you don't want people to notice how many vomit stains are in the floor. Wetherspoon's supposedly have a unique custom designed crazy carpet for every venue.
