Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

At this point I wonder if he's in the files

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 30 points 4 days ago (1 children)

At this point it's up to him to prove he isn't in there.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 19 points 4 days ago (1 children)

If Mike Johnson made sure all the Epstein files got released and he wasn't in them that would totally embarrass me.

[–] logi@piefed.world 24 points 4 days ago

You're saying that as a lib you'd feel totally owned?

the best people

He's a pawn of the plutocracy and we're living in a capitalist state.

The Paleocons and the Libertarian Techbros have been saying for a long while now that we're the traitors. That was a big part of the Hegseth speech at Quantico.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world -3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah because there is no corruption in non-capitalist states.

It's just pure corruption.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Corruption is an inevitability of human nature, but the particular variety of capitalism practiced in the US is pretty much defined by corruption, short term thinking, and general stupidity. The capitalism practiced 1700s wasn't nearly as idiotic.

Wherever there is great property there is great inequality. For one very rich man there must be at least five hundred poor, and the affluence of the few supposes the indigence of the many. The affluence of the rich excites the indignation of the poor, who are often both driven by want, and prompted by envy, to invade his possessions.

~ Adam Smith, An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations

The scale has changed, but the human impulses remain largely consistent.

Yeah and all the rest of these assholes blocking release of the Epstein files and covering for trump.

With MTG's post saying she's not suicidal and not going to kill herself and suspect someone if she is killed.

I frankly feel that an actual feasible event that may happen is. If they cannot get someone to flip. A mysterious shooter will take out one of the R's on the side of releasing the files... he won't be caught, but he will leave a nice manifesto saying he's trans and a far left person.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 24 points 4 days ago

A mysterious shooter will take out one of the R’s on the side of releasing the files…

No shortage of people with guns eager to claim a scalp. But it doesn't seem like any of these folks are particularly mysterious. They're all wearing their politics tattooed on their foreheads.

And then Q jumps out of a helicopter and says “I am Banksy!”

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 8 points 4 days ago

No I won't.

[–] northendtrooper@lemmy.ca 55 points 4 days ago

Not hard. Just post an AI video of Mike Johnson swearing her in.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 28 points 4 days ago

How DARE she Want to Investigate the WORLDS WORST CHILD RAPIST!

-Republicans LITERALLY!

[–] xenomor@lemmy.world 24 points 4 days ago

Goddamn, those republicans really really like pedophiles and human trafficking. They are just ruthless in their efforts to cover for pedophiles and human traffickers. What’s up with that?

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

But democrats are obstructionists?

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Is this what he called another recess for?

[–] easybre_bb@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago

Yes. Just before a shutdown again he called a recess early to avoid the Epstein files being released.

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 days ago

Mikey is doing this cause he loves the kids. I mean loves them. In a totally creepy kind of way.
