ICE is a terrorist organization

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 35 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Why is the media not questioning this?

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 16 points 2 hours ago

Because they're owned by the billionaires who support this

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 33 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Does anyone have a list of all ICE detention facilities?

Not for any particular reason. Definitely not to see if anything can be done to free the victims.

Definitely not so that international efforts could help coordinate the rescue of the victims.

Speaking hypothetically, i think adresses of members would be more useful.

Wow look at Newsweek calling an execution “found dead”

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 52 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

To be fair, they also said “with hands and feet tied.” They’re avoiding getting into legal hot water and all the readers know this smells like murder.

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 8 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I don’t think legal hot water is something that applies to journalism today.

TW: suicide???

An autopsy report seen by Newsweek showed Ge was found tied with a bedsheet, with linens around his wrists and ankles in what the report described as a "hog-tied" position. The medical examiner noted that there had been other reported incidents of people who had hung themselves having done something similar, and that there were no obvious defense wounds.

Am I missing something here? How does someone hogtie themselves and then hang themselves? How is this being considered a suicide? Am I on crazy pills?

[–] jdredbeard@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago

It's the same sense that Epstein "committed suicide."

A lot of people seem to "commit suicide" who were inconvenient to this Admin

[–] Eezyville@sh.itjust.works 18 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

That's how it's done in the United Soviet States of America.

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 3 hours ago

Easy on the "United".

David B. Rankin, the family’s attorney, in a statement to Newsweek: “It is truly mystifying how any detention facility can let someone leave their room, create three nooses and then hang themselves without anyone knowing. What’s worse is the lack of mental health care which could have prevented this tragedy. Mr. Ge’s death represents a totally failure on the part of the GeoGroup and the DHS.”

Seems like everyone is playing along with the claim of suicide while trying to get the details from DHS/GeoGroup.

It's not uncommon in Russia for people to commit suicide with a couple gunshots to the head, and then jumping out the window.

Consistently happens to my 6/6/6 heirs... right after comet sighted.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 27 points 8 hours ago

We are all on crazy pills on this glorious day.

[–] tirednapstablook@lemmings.world 19 points 7 hours ago

People kill themselves under impossible circumstances in Russia all the time.

Who are you to think it couldn't happen in the US?

[–] GlassHalfHopeful@lemmy.ca 9 points 6 hours ago

I literally just copied the same exact passage intending to ask the same question here. I'm not understanding how this is feasible.

This is absolutely tragic, regardless of the answer. But... how is this even possible?

[–] gnutrino@programming.dev 4 points 5 hours ago

I imagine there are legal issues with reporting anything other than the official cause of death that Newsweek don't want to get into so they just laid everything out nice and factually so that readers can come to their own conclusion...

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Oh I know, wasn’t this on Sherlock Holmes? They stood on a giant block of ice. When the ice melted, they were fatally hanged and the evidence disappeared

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 8 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Ever heard of Occam's razor?

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Yes. I've also heard of Hanlons razor. Just because a philosophical concept exists doesn't mean it's universally applicable.

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

What about Gillette's razor?

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 hours ago

I used to apply it to everything, then I found out about safety's razor

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 hours ago

Hush. Stop asking questions.

Put your head in the noose, tie your feet, tie your hands, probably using your mouth to pull the knot, and then do the drop. The reason for this would be to beat survival instinct.

Yes, but it describes it as hog tied, which is your feet ti d to your hands behind your back. I don't think I could hog tie myself, let alone hang myself after.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 37 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Are there cases of suicide where this has happened outside of law enforcement custody?

[–] lagoon8622@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 hours ago

It seems you need 3-5 feral hogs to help with some of the steps

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 10 points 6 hours ago

I’ve got ehlers-danlos and I am experienced with self bondage. Tying my own hands behind my back is not easy for me, let alone the average person.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

How do you tie your hands behind your back with your mouth? Especially when your neck is in a noose?

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

By using a slipknot. Ultimately it depends on the knots used and the order they were tied in, but it's technically possible.

Is it probable or likely? Absolutely not.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 35 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

What's next? "Decapitated limbs found 100 feet apart, with the head in the center on a pentagram. Ruled as suicide."

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 17 minutes ago

Don't grant then the pentagram, that shit is originally a symbol of protection that , like the Nazis stealing iconography, was bastardized by the church.

[–] BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world 23 points 6 hours ago

What the fuck will it take for people stand up and say no more. What has happened to this country. This is inhumane, what was his crime, just existing and trying to make his life better

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 7 points 5 hours ago

Why is everyone ignoring the possibility that that he was an illusionist?

This man was obviously performing escape magic and failed during the final death defying illusion.

[–] gdog05@lemmy.world 10 points 6 hours ago

This reminds of Ellen Greenburg in 2011. True Crime Garage podcast is talking about in their current episodes. 20 stab wounds the authorities are claiming were self-inflicted.
