When they made Chex "bolder" it got bad.

This already exists!!! I typically can find them at gas stations and airports.

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 36 points 3 days ago

Gardetto’s is superior to Chex Mix anyway, but this puts them over the top.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Yes this is my road-trip favorite

I could eat a party size bag of these things and still be craving more.

Good ass snack.

This... Actually exists.

Not by Chex, but Gardetto. They're rye chips. I get that one all the time because, yeah; the rye chips are the only good thing in those mixes 🤣

[–] dmention7@midwest.social 37 points 3 days ago (7 children)

Maybe controversial, but despite the rye chips being far and away my favorite part of Gardettos, I actually prefer the mix because then the rye chips are that much tastier when you hit one.

Or maybe its the same kind of illness/cope that causes me to say things like "I actually enjoy living in the midwest, where we get to experience all 4 seasons, versus someplace that's pleasant and warm all year"

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

You get four seasons? Why am I only getting two?

(DC actually has 4 seasons.)

I visited part of California when it was 62F outside. People complained about how cold it was. There were people wearing jackets.

There is no weather option that will keep you permanently happy, it is more reliable to learn to love what you have.

it's under 60F right now, i'm in california, and half of us are changed into our "winter" wear (think light fall elsewhere). The rest of us are still in short sleeves and sandals.

I understand what you're saying. I lived in a place that has all 4 seasons. I understand the hassles of snow in winter and unbearable heat in summer without ac

I've since moved somewhere more temperate and I miss the 4 seasons. It's wet, cold and wet, warm and wet, or hot and dry, interspersed with short periods of really nice weather. It's not warm and pleasant all the time, but I'd be hard pressed to give up storms. Here, no thunderstorms. And if we get them they're completely obfuscated by clouds (our clouds sit really low)

I was visiting family recently and got to experience an absolutely magnificent storm and I was so incredibly happy. The last storm I saw like that was from when I visited Disney World a while ago

From this video I caught https://files.catbox.moe/8722ra.mp4

I wasn't even thinking about thunderstorms, but you're right, I would totally miss them! My dogs hate them, but I love a good rumbly light show on a hot summer night, and the cool air that (usually) follows.

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lightning and distant clouds are the only thing I miss about living in the flat Midwest.

Mountains and blizzards are a good trade off though. We get thunderstorms too, but if you see a lightning bolt, you’re probably in danger of either dying or frying some of the electronics in your home. And your ears will be ringing.

i never quite understood how loud thunder could be until lightning struck my apartment's parking lot. i grew up in earthquake land and thought that's what was happening.

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 days ago

It hit a phone pole 20 feet from our house once and killed our router and everything connected the the coaxial cable.

All the windows rattled in our house and if it weren’t for the flash you’d think a semi drove into it.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Every Midwesterner in the pnw laments the sky not trying to kill us here. It's lovely and I love it here, but the storms that feel like the end of the world are beautiful and wonderful

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

My first thought was I'd instantly overload on the round chips, wouldn't be special any more.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Nah you're right on both points, though I think both alternatives have their merits. I can enjoy the occasional bag of rye chips as a special treat. And I can enjoy the PNW months of rain instead of winter

[–] balderdash9@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

Would you say that gives you .... Food for thought?

[–] Zidane@midwest.social 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] dmention7@midwest.social 5 points 3 days ago

Nah bro we both just have uncommonly good taste in snacks and weather. 🤜🤛

[–] reallykindasorta@slrpnk.net 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They have to mix it all together then remove the bagel chips and bag them separately to get the correct flavoring.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 4 points 3 days ago

These are rye chips.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 8 points 3 days ago

What are the round things? 🎀

[–] cepelinas@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 days ago

We have had this for years... I think.

Almost a dollar an ounce? Fuck. That.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

That one was chosen because it lends itself to a homemade label more than the name brand packaging did. 🤷

[–] theedqueen@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This or I would like Gardettos with everything except the pretzel bits

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

The worst part in any such mix.

[–] starman2112@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

This would be perfect because then they could release one with none of the round things and we'd both be happy

[–] kindred@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] GlitchyDigiBun@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

That's... You know that's the cereal right? The puffed waffle things?

[–] lorski@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 days ago

About time.😋

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If this shit comes out after I had to go gluten free (allergy), I'll be real fucking pissed.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago
