Hitler saw photos of Mussolini hanging upside down from a pole at a gas station and freaked out.

Quite the opposite, or so the Germans would have us believe:

I die with a happy heart, aware of the immeasurable deeds and achievements of our soldiers at the front, our women at home, the achievements of our farmers and workers and the work, unique in history, of our youth who bear my name.

And you'll never guess who he blamed for starting the war.

To be fair, they got further than they should by pure luck. And now Germany is an industrial (anti-fascist) country in a bit of irony.

Idfk what he had against jews, you can't do what he did without being a little delulu, he was probably convinced his life situation was due to a jew ripping him off or something. So, a lot of what he is saying about jews is bullshit, and he knows it. He just wants a final fuck you.

He probably is proud as fuck. Remember: the rest of the "civilized" world was essentially keeping Germany permanently poor, living under such misery breeds a certain...psychotic world view.

I bet the less hostile tone he had to Britain and America would not have lasted if they conquered them, they would have slowly exterminated them in a cycle of purity that would last until humankind is extinct.

Jup. There's a very strong argument to be made that had the terms of the treaty of Versailles not been so unfair and hostile towards Germany, World War II would have never happened.

Rehabilitation and reconstruction is ALWAYS the best option for the winning side of a large war to extend to the losing side, regardless of who/how/why the war started. Heavily penalising and fucking over the loser for years and years after the war is just going to foster resentment and discontent amongst the population, and make them feel (arguably, with a degree of validity) that conquering th countries fucking them over is the only way their country will see prosperity again.

He had against Jews the same thing Trump has against immigrants.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I absolutely had this impression as well.

I also pictured the Lorraine Motel as being super fancy as MLK Jr. Was the leader of the civil rights movement.

I'm guessing that's projection, but maybe it was a bit of the curriculum, or prosperity gospel inherent in the South.

I really don't know.

Nah, he was just a tweaker who didn't want to face the consequences of his actions.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 46 points 3 days ago (5 children)

Neither Hitler, nor his top generals, nor even his doctor really knew what the cocktail of pills and injections he was getting to cure him of his flatulence were doing to him.

He was a severe addict towards the end of the war, and that doctor might have singlehandedly been responsible for all the stupid strategic decisions that Hitler took towards the end

He had Parkinsons like symptoms, was on a methamphetemine to combat fatigue, a barbiturate to combat insomnia with some opioids on the side.

There's no way he wasn't high 24x7.

Which is why we shouldn't get too caught up on individuals. There will always be tweakers. The amazing thing is people rallied around a genocidal demagogue on drugs and said that's our guy.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

Nah, the amazing thing is the majority was overpowered by a minority of disfunctional tweaker psychopaths.

This is the great, fatal human flaw. Where is our immunity!?!

Better species needed sadly.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

hitler had a personal doctor, whom was jewish apparently he liked the DR enough for him to not kill him.

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 12 points 3 days ago

I mean... I feel like Hitler might have borne some of the responsibility as well.

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hang on, did Hitler actually fart a medically significant amount or is "cure him of his flatulence" a somewhat disrespectful way to say killed someone?

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

she said smell ya later boy.

that he was

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Well... The string of stupid strategic decisions didn't start near the end. But ok, maybe he got some help on the final ones.

In fairness, the consequences of his actions would almost certainly have had a noose at the end and that still would have been too merciful.

[–] ordnance_qf_17_pounder@reddthat.com 24 points 3 days ago (3 children)

If the Soviets got a hold of him I doubt he would have even made it to Moscow for trial!

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 3 days ago

Yeah, the red army was not known for humane treatment of prisoners.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

soviets did employed non-consesual activities as a weapon.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 7 points 3 days ago

They even hung Julius Streicher, who basically was a propagandist. Of course Hitler would have hung.

[–] pinball_wizard@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Imagine that little shit (Hitler) realizing that the world waa full of billions of people who would enact creative vengeance on him, left alone for a few minutes.

He must have been throughly terrified to the bone and beyond.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 5 points 2 days ago

But he would also be proud to still be a part of american culture in 2025

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 days ago

All of the leaders were a bunch of pussies. Especially Himmler.

Don't talk so bad about Hitler's killer. He did a great service to the world.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 29 points 3 days ago

He didn’t want to end up like Mussolini

[–] pipe01@programming.dev 5 points 2 days ago

Are we the baddies?

[–] Siethron@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

No, there was no real life Eragon to make him realize that

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Lots of Russians were about to ram that guilt through.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

Absolutely unspeakable things would have happened to him. Forget hanging, he would havd been an example for all time.

[–] harmsy@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

He was in for a world of hurt and decided to EWO instead.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago

How did it feel to be so optimistic?
