Apricot processing is well under way. A couple of kilo being chopped to go in the freezer (I use them in breakfast oats) and have 19 small jars of chopped apricots in syrup in the waterbath now, plus lots of leftove apricotty syrup. I have four kg in the fridge which I will make into jam (starting tomorrow) and the six best apricots got diverted for fresh eating. They are really good quality apricots, just a little bit of marking on the skin. They are also really big for apricots, a bit over 100g each.

have you also considered liqueurs?

Lotsa lobsters at the beach today.

You might have good legs / boobs / pecs / buns of steel but the sun will ultimately win.

Not everyone lol

I don't think the piggies like the thunder. I went in there and there was no sign of them even though I called out "you hoo. It's me, the food lady". Nothing I thought shit they've scaled the perimeter. Have a quick look around then I spotted movement in their cardboard house. Oblivious lives upstairs and Fatty lives downstairs.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

From what I've been reading they'll end up eating each other.

I ended up going to a Good Guys and found a hectic Panasonic 4 in 1 microwave/oven/griller/steamer on the clearance table as an ex display for almost half price. It has all these extra features and is still a flatbed microwave.

I just need to figure out how we're going to use all these extra settings, if we do at all. How do you get your head around having the ability to grill and microwave something at the same time?

And then the next challenge is getting the rest of the house to learn how to use it

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You get used to it. Microwave safe dishes for the microwave. Oven safe dishes for the grill and oven. Ceramic for microwave/oven combo or microwave/grill combo.

Start by using them individually then move on to the combos.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 3 points 4 days ago

I can already see some benefits, like for food that cooks faster in the microwave but tastes better from the oven, or baking in there and using the steamer to keep things moist. It will be a fun adventure

Realised that despite spruiking Super Mario Galaxy as one of my favourite games, I couldn't be sure if I'd played #2 or not. Trundled out to buy it and am already engrossed. Stopped to go get groceries, but otherwise if you need me, I'll be on my Switch...

So apparently substack want me to verify my age with a face scan/image and government ID info. Oh hells no.... I was only trying to log in to delete my account anyway. I'm still getting emails with posts in them so this is not about protection. Grrr. And I can't seem to contact a human.

So a bit of a PSA I guess.

I follow a comicbook writer that switched away from them years ago because they kept paying really problematic people to use the platform. They've given be bad vibes ever since

Massively productive Saturday...mainly cause I forgot it was Saturday.

Bloke at the gym this morning was kind of hitting/flirting with my missus when I was elsewhere.

I walked up and gave her a hug and a kiss (and butt squeeze)...dude nearly shat himself.

He actually apologized and we had laugh.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Ok. Now I have sufficiently Christmased and new yeared and holidayed I think it's time to climb myself up on the old wagon. Dry January and restart some better food choices including some meal prep so the Thursday night CBFs don't derail me.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 10 points 4 days ago

See you Monday. Hits vape.

Those Epstein files must be worse than we all thought

Another part of spring cleaning down. The studio.

Rest, neurofen then move the bedroom over.

Got recommended a 4 hour retrospective on YT of some random tiktok woman who prolly has AI psychosis and is in love with her psychiatrist. Out of all the algorithms, the most tolerable to me is YT algorithms.

Big Cyberpunk vibes from the term AI psychosis lol

spoilerSo exhausted and in so much pain 🫩

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 4 days ago

so many hugs

Migraine. But I'm strongly considering moving my bedroom to the larger room.

Seems to be cooler despite being at the back of the house, furthest away from the aircon in the loungeroom.

Are they sure about no rain? I see storm looking clouds in the distance.

And as I was typing this, it started to rain

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago

Started to rain just as the train was nearing my station. Stopped as soon as we got home inside to the dry

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

Storms here!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

here's the puzzle I did, it was bloody finicky

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 4 days ago

Time to pack up the christmas, tidy up and set my art work table. 😊

I wish I had a safe fully enclosed yard with somewhere to suspend a hammock. Melbcat could hang out and snooze while I did the same

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 6 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Our microwave has finally stopped working. It looks like it has rusted through at a couple of points in the roof which is probably what's done it. A cast iron crepe pan was put on top of it as well, so having a big magnetic thing on top probably didn't help.

I'm hoping as long as I don't buy the cheapest microwave as a replacement it should be fine.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm really happy with my little $50 bigW one.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

I figure most will just work. I got about 10 years out of the last one so I'm hoping to do the same again

Legend. We got the brewery up and ready in time for NYE, so of course now his lordship is eyeing ALL THE FRUIT TREES and getting Ideas.

He also ran across some home rum and is requesting permission to use my equipment.

Ever since the slut pop discussion we had a little while ago, I have had an inappropriate song stuck in my head.

On that note, does anyone else always have a song stuck in their head?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

I always wake up to a song in my head but by lunchtime it's gone.
