Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

After the president of Venezuela has already been captured? A little late don't you think? Why didn't they do anything when there was just a blockade?

What are they going to fucking do? Write a yelp review? Send him a letter? Say please?

Hang them all, literally none of then are worth the air they waste.

[–] aarch0x40@piefed.social 29 points 5 days ago (1 children)

They're going to vote on a non-binding resolution to draft a strongly worded letter.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 5 days ago

Saying we will say yes just ask first next time

[–] YurkshireLad@lemmy.ca 8 points 5 days ago

Steady on, don’t get them riled up too much. They might also write a google review.

Congress seems vestigial these days. We have a single person who is our ultimate ruler.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

And he's a decrepit lunatic swayed by praise and greed

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 22 points 5 days ago (1 children)

How much does anyone want to bet that they give him retroactive permission?

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 5 days ago

They do only seem upset he didn't ask first, not about the action just that they didn't get asked before it happened

[–] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 18 points 5 days ago

Oh, I know, I'll write a strongly worded letter to my representatives. That'll get the ball rolling.

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago

Vote on something that has already happened?!…… ok

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 15 points 5 days ago

Neat. Not at all too late or anything. Cool.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I knew we had a time machine!

[–] Red0ctober@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

And it turns out hot tubs are a required component!

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 12 points 5 days ago

Was gonna say exactly what you already ssid in the body text.

"We need to stop him!"

after he's already done everything he could and has tired himself out

[–] sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Maybe it can serve as the start to an impeachment process...

[–] homes@piefed.world 7 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, because that worked so well the last two times he was impeached…

[–] MoogleMaestro@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I get it, though it doesn't mean that it isn't worth trying to do things legitimately. Impeach him anyway, even if it doesn't matter.

[–] homes@piefed.world 4 points 5 days ago

I wasn’t arguing that anyone should break the law. Especially considering that that’s why I’m so upset in the first place.

There are plenty of legitimate ways to do it, I just doubt that anyone currently in power has the temerity to try.

I was expressing my cynicism, not a call to revolution.

[–] sunbrrnslapper@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Third time's the charm. 😉

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 5 days ago

he's learned his lesson this time. He's been impeached - - Susan Collins previous times and next time

[–] homes@piefed.world 4 points 5 days ago

“I have the best impeachment, the most impeachment, nobody gets impeached like me!”

— you know who

[–] fulcrummed@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

The horse hasn’t just bolted. He destroyed the freaking stable and curb-stomped the farmer.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I thought House is on recess again

[–] Jerb322@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

Next week.....meanwhile....

[–] ClownStatue@piefed.social 4 points 5 days ago

That’s a bold move, Cotton. Let’s see if it works out for ‘em!
