Limo: A simple Qt based mod manager

Someone mentioned this on a the recent discussions about Nexus Mods cancelling their Linux mod loader, and after trying it out I thought it was worth making a dedicated post about it.

What's this about nexus having cancelled their Linux mod loader? Have they changed their plans regarding the nexus mods app?

Edit: Just saw that they're retiring the nexus mods app to go back to working on vortex. whyyyyyyyy

I bet this has something to do with them being sold off last year and the new owners not seeing the cross platform app as being worth it

In case anyone wants it, you can get Vortex working with WINE games. It's a pain, and it does have issues, but it can be done. I've only ever seen people say it can't work, but you can run it under the same prefix as the game and have it function 95% of the way fine. There will be some warnings that won't go away though.

There’s a tool called NaK that can set up Vortex and MO2.

SnazzyPanda seems to have taken over the mantle. See here.

Ahh looks like this is not going to overtake Mod Organizer 2 anytime soon, sorry for not checking before crossposting!

There is also Jackify. It's a tool to download, install and configure Wabbajack modlists. Wabbajack modlists uses Mod Organizer 2 as the mod manager, which is a Windows app, but works well enough under Linux.

Huh, is there one that does Stardew Valley?

SMAPI has a Linux install option on its own. And once you have that installed you can either handle it manually (which actually isn't too bad) or manage it through Mod Organizer

Ooh, thank you, I'll look into that.

I love when sparklejunkies equate "low churn" with "dead".

Do we have anything yet other than vortex that can handle nexus mods collections?

[–] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

Just use Wabbajack. It does the same thing without being directly tied to Nexus

Jackify is a native Linux tool that downloads and installs Wabbajack modlists, and creates a Proton prefix with needed tweaks.
