Sane-washing title

the US president urged Britain and other nations – including France, China and Japan – to send warships to the area to protect oil tankers from Iranian attacks.

Not a good sign if we are asking China to change our diaper.

Just one week ago he "truthed":

The United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, maybe the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East. That’s OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need them any longer — But we will remember. We don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!

What? Wasn't already won one week ago, and no help was needed? Now it needs to beg for help?

"I want Greenland! Give me Greenland, or I'll go to war with Europe! Give me what I want OR ELSE! "

3 months later:

"You better help me save face from my virtuosically incompetent war strategy OR ELSE!"

Alternatively, the UK can kick out the US and Israeli ambassadors and its oil will be allowed to pass the Strait.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Ooooh... If Iran made that counteroffer, things would get spicy!

What in Frankensteins vagflaps is going on with his face? It looks like it was sewn together from discarded bits of uncooked chicken skin

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

He picks the best people. In this case, a stylist that cant size collars to save his neck image.

[–] Regrettable_incident@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

It was. His real face is underneath, and it's much worse.

"We don't need your ships"

24 hours later...

"Please send your ships"

"BTW, we already won the war, but please help"

[–] metermatic26@lemmy.world 19 points 13 hours ago

This is the same country that was seriously planning to invade and annex Greenland just three months ago. They might have postponed their plans in favor of bombing Iran, but Greenland is still on the table.

So Europe may suffer the economic consequences of this mess, but the White House getting humiliated and the US military getting degraded and bogged down in Iran are both a boon for Europe.

My only fear that some European leaders (looking at you Starmer) might actually be stupid enough to follow them in this folly out of some misplaced sense of appeasement.

Kir Stammer is one of those that I think is dumb enough to do what trump want

"Please spend billions of dollars to pull my ass out of the fire!"

France already told him to go fuck himself.

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I’m going to tell you like I told George Bush. Go fuck yourself.

Instead of renaming French Fries to Freedom Fries, they'll just ban them, and people who make them in their air fryers at home will be designated terrorists, and be executed.

As a result, the potato futures will plunge, and the entire potato industry will be destroyed, farms will go out of business, animal feed will be short, leading to meat shortages.

And the MAGAs will be on TV saying "It was hilarious to see the Libz getting angry because there were no fries at McDonalds, which was our objective.

"The fact that another major commodity market was destroyed as a direct result couldn't be predicted, and isn't our fault, or our problem.

"Thanks to President Trump's leadership, we achieved OUR objective in record time, and this operation was a TOTAL SUCCESS!"

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Hmmm, I wonder if we made an error in judgment when we designed these countries after WW2, including plopping down our own massive military base in the middle (Israel)?

UK and USA made this mess, the wars will never, ever stop by design.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 26 points 16 hours ago

I'm starting to think he was never very good at the businesses and the strategies all along!

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

They didn't when Reagan asked. And Reagan didn't even start that war.

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

lol, lmao even

[–] rwrwefwef@sh.itjust.works 9 points 13 hours ago

The problem with the American military doctrine, is that they don't have one; everytime they need to fight a war, they find somebody else to be the troops while they stick to a "support" role.

[–] lithiumground@lemmy.world 10 points 14 hours ago

USA and Zionists just bring chaos and instability to the region .

Gulf countries and Iran could find a middle ground and agree to peace , but zionists wants greater Israel ,USa wants resources

[–] roserose56@lemmy.zip 2 points 10 hours ago

USA started it, USA should finish it! We don't give a fuck about USA starting a war and then beg the rest of the world to do something! Maybe you should send your citizens!

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 11 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

This timeline is unrealistic and poorly thought out.

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

This season the writers went WOKE.

[–] ranzispa@mander.xyz 15 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

According to the article, this is what he said:

Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint will send ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a nation that has been totally decapitated.

How does that turn into this?

Donald Trump pleads for UK to send warships to secure Strait of Hormuz

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 5 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

Ummm, sounds pretty much the same to me.

You mean because the headline did not include the other nations?

[–] ranzispa@mander.xyz 3 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

The headline conveys a different message. He made a statement in a public occasion.

He stated that these countries may have interest in joining the war, and that he'd be happy if they did.

He did not plead the UK: pleading the UK would be calling their prime minister and asking them what they want to join the war. As far as I understood there has been no contact with UK officials to talk about this.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

I believe the public statement was the pleading part and the rest is just semantics since he has said in the past that he didn't need them and that the war was virtually over. In fact I'm the same breath he mentioned that they were decapitated. Why would you need help with a decapitated event? I mean would you actually expect him to say the words "I'm pleading with...?"

I think there have been many exaggerations regarding TACO, he practically invites them after all, but this one is pretty mild.

[–] 73ms@sopuli.xyz 3 points 14 hours ago

It was just another post on "Truth social". Full version of this particular ramble here:

Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe. We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability, but it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are. Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated. In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water. One way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Clearly that is doing more than just saying they "may have interest". It is expressing a desire for them to on his part. I guess it's not pleading but it is definitely him publicly urging them to do it. It's also interesting that in the same message he claims that many countries will be sending warships before expressing this hope that some he lists would.

[–] lemmy_outta_here@lemmy.world 10 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I submit the following: an oil shock and the resultant recession/depression is worth enduring so that the world may be rid of Trump. Let the idiot wear his blunder, and may the economic disaster he unleashed be forever known as the Trump Slump. The alternative might be WW3.

One thing, though: we must help Ukraine defeat Putin. Russia is getting a huge boost right now from Trumps's blunder. If the UK and others send ships anywhere, it should be to blockade Russia.

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The end of the AI and Realestate bubbles and, even better, the Reserve status of the USD, would be wonderful things.

Sure, it would be painful, but it's like pulling a rotten tooth, a short sharp pain now to save us from continued paid that will turn into something much worse in the future.

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

I’m gonna miss my mighty dollar but you’re right it’s outlived its useful life.

[–] metalGoat1@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Where the fuck is Israel in this war? Where are their soldiers?

Gotta keep the genocide rolling.

[–] OldQWERTYbastard@lemmy.world 29 points 20 hours ago

The infinite might of the United States is unable to hold and defend a 24-mile wide body of water.

Think about that for a second.
