Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
In a very roundabout way, if I may add
It is a lovely roundabout tho
Needs a bike path
For all the cyclists
Yup
If it was near me I can garuntees it would be claimed and marked by the dirt bikers, does that count?
I might like to see some flowers in the centre, if I’m being particular…
It's probably not suffering a lot of wear and tear.
I'm not a civil engineer or a roadworker but.. isn't $1.5M a lot for a single roundabout?
No not really.
Not the cheapest I've seen, but for the amount of bed and foundation work that looks like it required it sounds like a pretty reasonable rate. Decent looking roundabout, 7.5/10, could use connections and some landscaping in the island. Better signage, too.
And also not whatever that is cutting through the far side in the picture.
As a USAian I read that and thought “wow that’s actually pretty cheap, especially for such a corrupt place.”
Also, maybe Im not used to how modern railways work, but if this is a railyway roundabout, where are the tracks? This appears to be paved and designed for cars...
Roundabout to service a railway, not for trains.
Don't worry, if he wins the next elections EU will start thinking about maybe doing something about it. If he loses nothing will ever be done about it.
They already did something about it (froze funds), it's one of the reasons the opposing candidate is leading in the polls.
I think they only froze some of the founds. No idea what impact did it have on the polls. Poland got its funds frozen as well and it definitely wasn't the main reason why opposition won. 2 years after the parliamentary elections PiS won presidential elections again and is back to blocking EU funding now. I think this is what most people don't realize here. Even if Orban loses his party will not disappear. His supporters will not disappear. Prosecuting those people is very difficult. Undoing the damage they have done is very difficult. The opposition party will have their own corruption scandals. Orban can be back in power after another election cycle with most of the mess he left still untouched. Hoping that one electoral loss will fix the entire country is very naive yet it looks like that's EU's only hope here. EU needs deep reforms that will shield it from bad actors like Hungary, not just hope that little pressure will fix them.
I agree with your points. Just sayin' that while it may be true the EU has done too little, it's not true they've done "nothing."
If he wins, there are going to be more than one roundabouts.
Orban is a small man.
He eats the waste chodes from Trumps arse.
Only Trumps kids and sex slave get the best chodes.
Sounds fake to me cause no matter how much I looking it up there just few outlets that have story of this roundabout
You need to work on your searchfu, and dig more into your source credibility. At least until CNN newsroom is gutted by the WB takeover, they still have a fairly high factuality standard, if slightly progressive (American not European) bias.
Not all sat imagery is showing it as it's new and imagery is expensive, so something like Apple maps, Yandex, and others aren't updated enough. However google earth is and if you go straight to NASA Sentinel 2 shows it as of March 24.
