What kind of sad sad person is against hugging?
News
Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
People who are disliked by their entire family, and who were the social pariah at school, and who are despised by their colleagues (even though most of them are horrible people too), and who have strong sociopathic tendencies, and who revel in the misery of others to distract from their own misery and self-loathing.

You know, this might be a bit much, but I think I’d consider my life complete if I saw Steven Miller go into the fencing position from an onset of blunt force trauma to the head.
Not saying that I’d be the cause of that situation, but I’d be the cause of the popcorn in the room.
I was certain you meant "fetal position" but I looked it up and today I learned.
I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for the reference.
Mmhmm.
Yeah I would love to see some grounded jazz hands on him

I personally hate being touched by anyone. I almost never let anybody touch me. That's pretty different from banning other people from hugging. That's really fucked up.
Completely understand. No issue with people that don’t want to hug, but being against others hugging is terrible.
Personally I'm generally against people hugging me. But I'm an autist who thinks eye contact is too much physical contact so...
Same kind of person who'd downvote that comment, I'd reckon.
People trying to prevent passing of stuff like drugs or weapons. It's pretty common in jails.
Don't get me wrong, this whole thing is fucked up and none of those people should be there, but this story is just to play on your emotions. This shouldn't be an issue because they shouldn't be there at all.
these are not jails though, they're immigrant detention. they are not criminals but are being treated as worse than felon citizens.
Going out of their way to bring cruelty
It's the USAmerican way, apparently. Endorsed by the majority of voters.
Sounds like they're violating the 8th amendment by imposing unusual and cruel punishment...

I mean, add it to the large pile of constitutional violations the Trump regime have made. They need to be made to care. As the military kow-towed to them without even a pause, violating their sworn oath, there's not much left but the thinnest of remnant of rule of law.
During a visit in July, Lee’s group ran into the California City warden, Christopher Chestnut, the reverend recalled. When she asked him why no one could have a regular visit, he told her that facilities with contact visits had higher overdose rates, without providing further explanation, according to Lee.
So it's hell enough that having a physical reminder of what has been taken away causes even more to want escape? That's not the flex you think it is, there, buddy.
"yeah but I'm sure the dehumanizing Nazi machinery of the state will never be turned against me, so the cruelty is ok, it's even preferable!" -- half of my very purple state
Words can not describe how much I despise paying taxes to these people.
the only bright side to being unemployed is I am providing little to no monetary support to this stuff.
Most of these people have not been accused of crimes.
