How thoughtful, they've brought me a canvas for my keys.

[–] chunes@lemmy.world 8 points 1 hour ago

Have my wife wheel me over to where the license plate # is in view and post that bad boy to social media with a sympathetic title like "we had to take a huge detour because we couldn't get my wheelchair around this truck", grab some popcorn and watch as people form a digital witch hunt. Then call the police to have it towed.

[–] dan69@lemmy.world 5 points 51 minutes ago

Lucky me I carry my trusty pocket knife..

[–] plant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Ball style tow hitches are usually removable by a very visible cotter pin! Free ball hitch!

[–] BlackVenom@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

They also make bedside tenderizers

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

And window softeners

[–] Clutter@sh.itjust.works 29 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Call police, since our wheelchair cannot pass. They will have it towed gladly with a lot of pleasure. (The Netherlands hates these asahats)

[–] TimeNaan@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago

This is poland where the police will come in 3 hours after the car is gone and if it's still here they will send a letter to the cars owner who can just say someone else was driving.

"Uh oh, is there a baby in the back seat? That's super dangerous! We better get the baby some air!"

"...oh, there wasn't? Oops. Well, my heart was in the right place."

Sometimes I have to wear a duty belt. That duty belt has some heavy-duty pointy metal things stored on it. I'd just make sure my duty belt is nice and secure before I squeeeeeeze past.

Fantasize about violence. Probably no real action other than banging into it when walking on the sidewalk.

[–] AviAdi@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

I like to spit on it.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 12 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

If there are no cameras or witnesses, there will be a flat if I got something sharp enough on me.

[–] AnarchistArtificer@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

A nail when positioned correctly will cause a flat tire to slowly deflate once it's driven over. Makes it less likely to get caught because the damage won't be discovered at the scene

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 3 points 23 minutes ago

What a much better plan.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago

Also appears accidental

[–] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 7 points 4 hours ago

Probably ignore it, and hope they got a ticket of some kind. I don't think my area has any parking narc program.

[–] ptychodus@lemmy.world 13 points 5 hours ago

Collect the valve stems like they were chanterelles.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Where is this? Are there American style trucks in Europe now?

[–] TimeNaan@lemmy.world 11 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Looks like poland. I can confirm there are a bunch of these ridiculous pickups here nowadays.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 hours ago (3 children)

Trying to imagine getting around European cities in one of these things. Where would you even park?

Really depends on where you are. I mean, we have actual trucks, not pick up trucks, but like those box trucks that deliver goods to shops and such. They drive around in cities no problem. Of course, some early medieval town in Germany or Italy is a different thing, but those are more a exception than the rule. You got to remember, Europe was bombed quite badly during the war and then in the 1970s there was a big obsession about building infrastructure for cars. That has been slowly reversed back to more pedestrian friendly cities, but still, they are not built in a way that prevents larger vehicles to use the streets.

The main reason for the lack of american style pick up trucks here is tax and fuel costs. People who need a pick up truck would rather drive around in a 2.4 diesel Toyota Hilux, than a 28 litre V8 motor Dodge RAM. Most of the people driving with Yank Trucks are people who fantasize about being a good ol' boy from Texas, while not having traveled more than 25 kilometers outside of their home town of Kauhajoki.

[–] TimeNaan@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

Like this. Or in the bike lane.

Assholes in Europe imitate those in the US closely.

[–] greybeard@feddit.online 4 points 4 hours ago

On the sidewalk.

[–] CactusEcho@piefed.social 18 points 7 hours ago

I hate these fuckers. This happens a lot in my home town. I was young i just cursed the fuckers and kept going. Nowadays i would deflate the tire.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 64 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Call a tow truck company and get the spotter's fee reward.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago (1 children)
[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 12 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Usually. They're slapping a heavy tow fee on. They appreciate people finding the money for them. You're literally calling them to say, "Hey, wanna make $150 in 10 mins?" So a spotter's fee in cash under the table is often 30% or so.

[–] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

Parking enforcement.

And maybe check if the hitch is locked in.

[–] atro_city@fedia.io 5 points 6 hours ago

This is probably what I'd do. It's free money for the town, isn't it?

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 45 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Take a picture of it and post it on social media for likes.

[–] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 5 hours ago

Getting likes is tight!

[–] theblurstoftimes@leminal.space 2 points 4 hours ago

How much to catalytic converters go for in Europe?

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 7 points 6 hours ago

3 tires. For insurance purposes.

[–] rob_t_firefly@lemmy.world 38 points 9 hours ago (1 children)
[–] kungen@feddit.nu 30 points 9 hours ago

The icing on the cake is having the hitch ball mounted when they've probably never towed anything in their life. Make problems, and destroy some people's knees at the same time.

[–] boredsquirrel@slrpnk.net 8 points 7 hours ago

Get a grinder and remove the part that is on the sidewalk

Would be very funny

More realistically take a pic WITH license plate and post online anonymously with GPS location

And inform the cops of course

I am not sure if you are allowed to call a towing company on your own, may depend on country laws

[–] NathanRanch@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 hours ago

Full sprint and bounce off

[–] wolfeh@lemmy.blahaj.zone 35 points 9 hours ago

Deflate the tires and use the truck bed as a trash can and/or porta potty.

[–] TwodogsFighting@lemdro.id 7 points 7 hours ago

Squeeze past with an armful of saws.

[–] greyscale@lemmy.grey.ooo 20 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

use the tyre as a step to step up onto the bed cover, step across it, and jump down the other side.

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 28 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Look at mister fancy pants with his functioning knees.

If the city has an app to report this kind of stuff, I'd use it.
