Maybe, but I still wouldn't give him a max contract!

[–] JakeLake720@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Certainly not all on him, but still mind blowing that he’s in his 3rd year & hasn’t thrown for 300 yards in a game yet.

[–] AlmightyDolphin21@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He’s done it exactly one time

[–] JakeLake720@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ah yes, the Denver game. I stand corrected!

[–] jcwillia1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It would be more accurate to say he has posted higher passer ratings each year.

To my eye he’s the same guy

[–] Subby13@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Completion % is an important one and true as well. Also TD:INT ratio.

[–] jcwillia1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He also has a perennial pro bowl receiver that he’s never had before

Justin fields is getting better in spite of the coaching. Imho getting rid of him would be a huge mistake.

[–] OkBoomer6919@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

3 seasons for 5k yards and 36 TDs, aka what Josh Allen does in 1. You want to keep that? lol

[–] calculated_brutality@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I do. I’ve seen enough flashes of brilliance to sway me. He needs a good OC that focuses on his strengths. And he has one hell of a deep ball, I’d wait. People forget how bad some hall of fame QBs started, like Bradshaw, Elway etc. I am a fan of Justin.

[–] OkBoomer6919@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Well I disagree with you but everyone has a right to their own opinion

[–] calculated_brutality@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah, it’s all good my man, in the end our opinions mean shit, the bears will do what they will do.

The rest of the season dictates how I feel about him. If he plays well like he did against the lions, and we see that more then I think it's a no brainer to keep him.

If he shows more of what we saw at the start of the season and shows inconsistency reading the field then it may be time to move on.

[–] OkBoomer6919@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No brainer? Look at his stats again. 3 seasons worth of stats is 5k yards and 36 TDs. That's 1 season of Josh Allen.

Fields will never be a good passer. The myth that he was good in college was also just that: a myth. He never once in his life threw over 3k yards. Not even at OSU. Caleb Williams will have done that twice in college. Fields had only one decent season at OSU and it was for 3k yards.

If the Bears have the number 1 pick, Poles is drafting Williams. A QB on a rookie contract is the most valuable asset in sports. Poles is from KC, and Williams's comparable is Mahomes (not mine per se, but the draft experts).

Then he will draft the best WR or OL with the second pick.

Poles would trade Fields predraft, and if he continues to play well, probably for a 2nd. (DL?)

Also by not extending Fields he saves about $22m which he could spend on Higgins / Pittman if the Bears went OL in the draft.

[–] AntMavenGradle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He aint the guy

[–] Dump-Daddy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I just want to build around MHJ and Moore 😁 I don’t care much who throws to them in the next year or two.

[–] MiddleNameIsJoe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's almost as good as peak Trubisky after all this improvement

[–] Cheddarlicious@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He went from below average to just just below the average?

Pass.

[–] MrScarfaceX@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Keep believing he is your QB. When you miss out on Caleb and Fields is doing the same thing next year, don't say you havent been warned. QBs that havent shown it by year 3 probably will never show it.

[–] Fast-Ad-4541@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m so tired man

[–] Amazing_Tour1364@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Most of us see his improvement.. it's the casuals who don't.. they just follow the popular narrative of "he's not a passer" and a few glaring mistakes and run with it.. real football fans see the improvement..

[–] OkBoomer6919@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

After 3 years and 34 games, Fields has a career total of 5k passing yards and 36 TDs, meaning the same as a single season of Josh Allen or Pat Mahomes.

[–] Character_Falcon_326@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Name one suoer bowl winning QB that's best asset were his legs?

[–] AlmightyDolphin21@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nick Foles. Well, technically it was his third leg but point still stands!

[–] Jorikstead@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I was looking at the schedule and I think he’s actually on pace for 4 wins this season over last year’s 3. Incremental improvement, pay the man and we could be a 5 or 6 win team in a few years.

[–] devinstated1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, and these stats are heavily influenced by 2 complete outlier games against the NFL's 2 worst defenses.

[–] Ok-Tune-8859@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I surely know he can be better play better and develop as he grows and the all built team chemistry. His athletic ability buys him that time. Next year at this time the win loss record will be reversed. This team is midway in their 3 year development stage. Development without compromising for wins.

How is his sack rate progressing
