Just a reminder to the people saying to get MHJ and figure out the qb situation later just how little an all time great, if not the greatest wide receiver ever, has on winning if you don't have a decent quarterback. As great as MHJ might be the return he offers isn't even a fraction to as much as if Maye or Caleb end up being great or even just good. The potential return on investment is just too much to pass up with a qb draft this highly touted.

If the Bears have a top 2 pick they aren't even going to consider MHJ, the only chance is if the Panthers drop to 3 or later where you consider him and then a qb later with our pick.

Maye hasn't even beat a top 25 college team. Literally impossible for him to be generational

[–] DaBears193@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes and this team already has 3 wins and has the talent to have more without an idiot HC. This team will not go 0-16 with Justin Fields on it, regardless of how good you think he is or isn’t. This comparison is literally meaningless.

[–] Crathsor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Packers went 6-9-1 with Aaron Rodgers, too. Shit happens, and it's a team sport.

[–] BrownPapi94@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This just tells me that we need to focus our attention at every single position. So trade our first two picks into massive hauls where we fill out the entire roster instead of focusing on a top qb and a top wr.

These threads are getting so old lol

[–] SuccessfulDog9292@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Caleb Williams will ruin this franchise

[–] Hot_Elephant1408@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If I were the bears I would keep fields and see what better talent and coaching would do for him. MHJ is definitely the pick they need to make. Help your young qb out!!

[–] Chi-Guy86@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Make it stop

Matt stafford went 5-11 in DET in 2020 and then won the Super Bowl with the Rams the very next season. There is no silver bullet you have to improve the entire team/as many positions as possible within a relatively short window of each other.

[–] ChoiceDry8127@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

No matter how many positions you improve, if you don’t find a qb you won’t win a Super Bowl

[–] HearshotKDS@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Ok but DET found a Super Bowl winning QB but wasn’t able to win a playoff game with him. Rookie QB is not the magical fix all sokution this fan base is hoping it is. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad choice necessarily but it means you need to field the best team possible not just the best QB and whatever else you can scrape together.

[–] forgotmyoldname90210@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Where did dude suggest that rookie QB would win a QB?

And how did the Rams do before they got Stafford.

A great QB is a (nearly always) a necessary but not sufficient ingredient to win a SB.

So what Justin has an insanely accurate long ball, the problem with this team is the offense scheme and coach. I really hope we don’t throw him away.

[–] porkbellies37@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They also lost a ton of games misusing Matt Stafford who proceeded to win a Super Bowl the minute he left.

They also had Orvloskey at QB, terrible OL, Terrible Defense.

Despite the utter shit around him, Calvin Johnson still put up 1300 yards and 13 TD.

The bears are WAY better than that lions team was and Fields is a way better QB than Orvloskey

[–] OkBoomer6919@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

We have the equivalent of Orvloskey at QB

Look, you’re either open to Justin proving he’s the future or you aren’t. If you are, it’s obviously best if we trade out of the 1 or 2 spot while prioritizing Harrison. Our roster is, honestly, not that bad, and he would immediately make Justin’s job so much easier. If he doesn’t prove himself, it’s not smart to prioritize a great WR prospect over a great QB project, but we will potentially have high enough picks to address both.

If you’re done with Justin, no matter how he performs, then I understand not wanting Harrison, but, again, we should have two top 5 picks. We can get both.

So I don’t understand the argument. The Lions were terrible his entire tenure, but it’s not because he wasn’t worth the money. Dude was a cheat code. In the event we don’t need a QB, he is the best player in the draft who fits an area of need.

[–] vicyayo1995@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And Smith Marsette won a Super Bowl last year. You’ll rather have him since he’s a winner

[–] GeorgeIW2017@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A reminder that they changed rules up since Calvin Johnson that protects the QB and greatly benefits WR

[–] Sabiancym@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Later on after CJ they had Stafford and still sucked. The same Stafford who immediately won a ring after going to a decent team.

For fucks sake, we went to a SB with Rex Grossman. Not that any of this is even relevant. Fields is the best we've had since Cutler. I swear people are just trolling now. Fields has a streak of good to great performancea going yet people act like he's been terrible.

[–] metallumberjack@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I mean a wr room of 1.) Moore , 2.) MHJ , 3.) Mooney with a competent play caller would be triple threat .

[–] sleeptilnoonenergy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Mooney ain't coming back

[–] _CHIBEARSMOD_@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If we get MHJ and we suck then we can suck until we draft ARCH "Nemesis" MANNING.

[–] OkBoomer6919@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Nah Bears fans would pass on him too. We aren't allowed to have a good QB because fans don't want one.

[–] forgotmyoldname90210@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No guarantee that the new QB is better so its better not to take the chance.

-Bears fan

[–] mywifemademedothis2@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My bigger issue is who will get him and Moore the ball enough to keep both happy? People be acting like Fields is going to transform into some distributor of the ball all of the sudden when he can hardly consistently target Moore at this point.

[–] Han_Yerry@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just a reminder the Lions were so bad for so long they stole Barry Sanders Morale and love for the game. Which in turn cost the NFL the true rushing champion that followed Sweetness, and not Smith.

[–] ADAMxxWest@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So your telling me, I get Marvin Harrison Jr, another top pick this year, AND the #1 next year?

Where do I sign?

[–] Penguinkeith@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If MHJ ends up being megaton or Julio Jones level of productive we would look like absolute clowns for passing on him

You are talking about his second year in the NFL and he had over 1300 yards and lead the league in TDs

[–] sparkles1887@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This sub never disappoints. If the bears are picking at 1 of course they won’t pick a WR there, they either take a QB or roll with Fields and trade back. Calling out a top 5-10 WR of all time because he was on a historically bad team is cherry picking info to make a statement not with muttering is dumb. What’s next, Joe Thomas didn’t do enough to elevate the Browns during his career. I think everyone with a brain understands that you can’t consistently compete for championships without a QB, the problem is the jury is still out with Fields, as well as the college kids. The front office will evaluate all variables after the season, and make a decision based on those evaluations. Why state the same dumb shit everyday worded a little different?

[–] Material-Race-5107@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Fields 1 more year with one of the best WR duos in the league. Even if he doesn’t drastically improve and we are forced to move on, we could sign an average NFL QB and put together a competitive team

[–] OkBoomer6919@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'd like a winning team that can win superbowls not a competing team that loses every year like you want. I hope Poles isn't an idiot like you all are.

[–] pearso66@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Orlovsky was the QB. Even if you don't like Fields, we can all admit he's better than Orlovsky. Bears D is light years better than that Lions D too.
