This is perfect for one of those "what number are you today?" cubes.

I'm a startled sack of potatoes this evening

It's okay to realize your life path has diverged from these people and step out of the friendships. Even if they at one point donated you a kidney, you shouldn't stay friends only out of obligation. You don't seem to really need extra friends in your life, and if you did, you'd likely meet new potential friends through your hobbies anyway

If it were me, I'd just have a list of canned replies like "oh, hey I'm super busy right now. Maybe X can give you their opinion on that profile", or, "thanks for the invitation! But I need to run some errands and help my mom out this weekend". This way you're not really breaking up with them overtly, because honestly I'm not sure they wouldn't react in a crazy way. After a few weeks of being unavailable they'll (hopefully) slowly stop reaching out.

That second bit would be great advice if I wasn't AFAB or a person who loses their voice when asked to repeat themselves xD

You're good, I was mostly confused between your title and the article's title.

Your cats are toothless because your vet's cat has an autoimmune disease?

How does this apply to all of our veterans who experience all of the above because we fought stupid oil wars? And, I really want to stress I'm not saying that to diminish anyone's struggles. I'm saying it because since 2001 the conservatives have had a veteran fetish. I have experienced all three of those issues because I am a wartime veteran with PTSD who was given no support when I separated. Obama and Biden are the two presidents who actually shifted the overall tone for the VA enough that I've been able to get help.

Fuck man. I've already been having a small mental crisis because my chosen career path after university has been obliterated by Trump before I've even earned my BS. It's like every time I stand on my own I get pushed down again

I just moved into an apartment and have one squeaky door. It's already driving me nuts, I can't wait until I can fetch lubricant from my house. But, my downstairs neighbor has a ton of squeaky hinges and... Okay, honestly, that was the second sign that he is hard of hearing lol

Anti-trans bills are failing in places like Montana, because our trans legislators are real people (not made-up perverts) who are able to articulate how these bills affect them, as real people, to their colleages on both sides of the aisle.

Zooey Zephyr made such an incredible case last year when she talked about the impact on parents rights if she was no longer able to walk her child to school. Because, yes, she's a transgender woman, but she's a loving parent who is deeply involved in her child's life. In fact, she had introduced her child to her colleages during certain work events. So every one of those asshats who drove that bill forward understood they would be hurting more than the "buzz word" out-group if they voted for it.

Sometimes I wish I lived in her district just so I could vote for her, because nothing makes these Montana red hats madder than realizing they might lose freedoms and she capitalized so perfectly on that.

Sorry, little bit of ramble lol. I think I'm just having a good day and want to have some kind of hope despite the impenetrable dark clouds hanging over us

I was agreeing with you that it's silly to correct someone calling it a tree outside of specific contexts, just like arguing a tomato isn't a vegetable.

For what it's worth, I have had to learn the growth habits of plants in ecology classes for a degree that I am currently earning. I have plant identification books that use those terms, because they do have a technical use.
