Absolutely. Just do the following first...

  • Officially apologize to every Palestinian family for every life lost in decades of conflict.
  • Fully dismantle all settlements built on occupied land and return every home, school, and farm.
  • Compensate for every square meter of land taken, including lost income and cultural sites.
  • Ensure full and unrestricted access to Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, with reparations for every blockade-induced hardship.
  • Return all property confiscated during evictions or military operations.
  • Admit and make amends for every instance of detention, displacement, or imprisonment without due process.
  • Rebuild all destroyed homes, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure.
  • Recognize all refugee claims and fund safe, dignified resettlement or return.
  • Fully acknowledge and compensate for the psychological trauma suffered by generations.
  • Publicly commit to ending all military occupation and systemic discrimination permanently.
  • Implement complete equality in law, services, and political representation for all Palestinians.
  • Renounce any historic narratives that justify oppression and commit to truthful education about past wrongs.
  • Fund and actively support the creation of a fully sovereign, functional, and internationally recognized Palestinian state.
  • Lead and finance the complete rebuilding of Gaza, including infrastructure, housing, healthcare, and education, to meet modern standards.

I love Claudia. Good for her.

I tried to look up prices for tickets recently (for other artists) and it's really hard to figure out which tickets are originals and which are resale tickets. It's all so convoluted. And frankly, it doesn't seem that we can ever afford to see anything... ever. Ugh.

Mildly repulsive.

Never heard of this, but the first couple of episodes of season 1 are pretty amusing. 😁

Ooh. I forgot about this! Adding to my watchlist now!

That is a VERY different feel. Smart decision to go the direction that they did.

I never expected to like this show as much as I did. I knew it had been canceled going into it, but I kept hoping and crossing my fingers that by the end of season 2 we would know what Jen's power is. And then...

spoilerKash accidentally pushes her into the garbage void?! 🤣 As they were on the platform, I told my partner that she's going to fall in somehow and then... voop! I'm so curious where that portal leads to. I find it hilarious that everybody's throwing their trash into it! Lol. And the poor woman still doesn't know her power!

Such a cliffhanger to end on. Ugh, the number of shows that I watch which get canceled is nuts. I am particularly miffed about how much isn't being resolved in this one.

With that said, it was a hilarious story and I loved the concept so much. 💜

I don't watch ~~horror~~ slasher/spatter films because it's never really interested me, but I found the Weapons trailer intriguing. The way all those kids ran away from their homes in the middle of the night. There was some pretty great cinematography and choreography in this film. I was there mainly the mystery solving and fantastical elements.

Unfortunately, the supernatural element wasn't explained. It borrowed from familiar witchcraft tropes, but didn't go anywhere. So many questions. Then it became... gruesome. Exceedingly so. (And yes, I know it was more mild than other films.)

Anyway. I'm just lost. What draws people to these kinds of gruesome films? If it's something you love, what excites you about it? I feel as though great stories can be told really well without being this explicit. But perhaps great storytelling isn't what people are looking for in horror films?

Perhaps it is the fear and suspense it brings out of you? Or maybe the squeamishness of not being able to look at the screen at times? Maybe some people look forward to the gore, which adds value the more gruesome it is? 😬

I feel like I am not getting something. I love fantasy. I love stories. I feel like there was a lot of great potential in this film for storytelling, but it never came to fruition and was kind of ruined by focusing on the wrong things. And that's probably because I don't understand what makes a good horror film good in the first place?

Thoughts?

Update: Some comments helped me refine what it was that bothers me. I had to look it up and the Wikipedia article helped a lot by breaking horror down into subgenres. It's "slashers" that I don't understand, but particularly "splatter" films. When I look at lists, it turns out that I enjoy a lot of "horror" without realizing it's classified as horror. But gorey, body mutilation... that is the form of horror that I struggle to understand the appeal of.

Weapons employs mutilation at the end and I was wondering why I needed to see this. The filmmakers added it because they wanted me to experience it. They thought it added to their film, but my experience was the opposite. I thought the story was doing great on its own and then... ugh... wtf... who wants to see this? 😅

So this is what I was really asking: For those that enjoy and seek out gorey mutilation, what is it that attracts you to that?

Current Version: Boost Beta 1.0.22 (26)

Issue: When I send DMs, the keyboard always covers the message input box at the bottom of the UI, making it impossible to see what I am typing.

To workaround, I switch to the WebUI for messages (which is worse for its own reasons) or I write my message in a different app and then cut and paste it into the Boost message field.

Feeling sad and pensive.

My 'work husband' quit a couple weeks ago and, now that he's finished his exit interview with HR, they've taken his badge and escorted him out of the building a few minutes ago.

We been through a lot over the years. He's really the only one that I would call a friend here and we've always looked out for each other.

This place is a soul crushing machine. He's moving on to something way better for his health and career. I'm genuinely happy for and not in the least resentful.

Enjoy the moments while they last, folks.

So tell me about your work buddies. Any silly memories to share?

Federal immigration officers in the Chicago area will be required to wear body cameras, a judge said Thursday after seeing tear gas and other aggressive steps used against protesters.

U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis said she was a “little startled” after seeing TV images of clashes between agents and the public during President Donald Trump’s administration’s immigration crackdown.

“I live in Chicago if folks haven’t noticed,” she said. “And I’m not blind, right?”

Every win matters. It's so important to see sensible judges.

This is some much needed good news to read. 💜

I know Terri's life has been completely uprooted because of all of this and so I wish her the best as she moves forward.

I found an option in the official pixelfed app to disable stories, but the application is still pretty buggy so I prefer to use the web PWA.

Is there a way to disable stories from showing up on my feed on the browser layout?

Some people have the audacity to say that Trump's policies don't lead to misery and death.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: “No one has died” because of his government’s decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: “No children are dying on my watch.”

But the data says and projects otherwise.

A study published in The Lancet journal in June said the U.S. funding cuts could result in more than 14 million deaths, including more than 4.5 million children under age 5, by 2030.

The United States could have been a beacon of hope and a model to look up to. For many years, that was the case for people and immigrants all around the world.

In a matter of months, that has all crumbled to its foundation. It's so hard to watch.

We're going to be out for the day and my partner left the television on for the dog—24 hours of Cesar Milan.

Do you think we'll come home to a reformed, well mannered doggo?
