For me, becoming self employed was the solution. Don't like a project anymore? Just don't renew the contract and find something else that's somewhat related but different enough to be interesting.

If it's solid oak you bet your ass I'll take it. I'll never tell you that I'll scrap it for parts though. New wood is expensive and planing and joining wood is a pain, cutting some cabinet doors from a table is way easier.

I have a T480 with an i5, it's more than adequate for browsing, office, I even run Qgis on it.

First few books were good but after a while I got too tired of all the time jumps and whatnot.
