Chicago, I'm a waitress myself and support a family of five here on that income.

Again, by spending less than the median housing cost, ideally by spending no more than a third of the median housing cost.

Eg. The median rent in Chicago is about $2K\mo right now. But you can live an more economically depressed part of town and get a one-bedroom for $1.1K or a three bedroom for that same $2K and split that with two roommates.

I'm not OP and her proposal isn't perfect, but this particular critique just doesn't hold water when she specified the median housing cost.

Only if you live alone and aren't willing to live in lower-cost housing.

It takes like a sweet dessert.

It smells like the sticky fluid that collects at the bottom of garbage cans.

I tend to think the the obligation to action falls more heavily on the privileged. Those who aren't marginalized have a duty to use their position to correct the injustices.

No more often than I eat meat now, which is only as often as I have to not be rude.

cleaning the litterbox is actually less unpleasant:

  • doesn't have to happen at a specific time

  • if I fuck it up, it doesn't spill over into other tasks

  • it's an act of service towards someone else and thus easier to motivate me than something that's for myself

The price of meat is currently artificially lowered by several factors, including government subsidies and lax regulations. Correcting that would be good for everyone, even if it made meat a "sometimes" food for everyone but the rich.

Found on NB Milwaukee between Grand and Chicago. HMU if it's yours and I'll get it back to you.

Inb4 yes I already posted to the subreddit as well. I went back to reddit for this and I feel dirty.

Neither seems to be inspired by the other, but share a lot of imagery and mechanics. Do they both owe a common precursor? Or is it the collective unconscious at work?
