I could see this being very popular on flights and cruises where they charge you per device to pay for this one device and then share with other devices.

Might be someone wanting to share the WiFi on something like a tablet. Or someone using an Android phone as an “iPod Touch”, basically everything the phone has minus cellular capabilities but still wanting to share the WiFi with other devices.

They shut down third party apps like Apollo. That was my last draw.

Fuck using that garbage official app.

This is the Microsoft Teams app but for personal use with friends, etc., right?

This may be a privacy policy that Microsoft implemented to protect people. We noticed this on the business Teams app that we can no longer start recording calls in “cold calls”, i.e. when you call someone out of the blue. We are now only allowed to start recording when we have scheduled meetings.

My brain. It sucks not knowing whether I’m being irrationally hard on myself or being truthful and in the realm of reality for criticism.

Personally I feel like “awards” like the Razzies are better suited for films that actually tried and failed.

Freddy Got Fingered wasn’t a masterpiece on the levels of Citizen Kane but it didn’t claim to be. It didn't try to be a captivating film, trying to tell you a compelling story that would change the world of film. It just set out to be a silly movie with immature humor and I think it was successful in that regard as someone who likes those kind of movies. I’d say it’s one of the best in this specific, niche genre. Whereas I’d say a movie like Epic Movie was more deserving of this since it tried to cater to this audience and genre and failed.

It’s like rating an oatmeal raisin cookie bad solely because you don’t like oatmeal raisin cookies. It never claimed to be a chocolate chip cookie. It is its own flavor and exists because some people do like it. In the world of cookie flavors, you don’t like oatmeal raisin and that’s okay but it doesn’t mean that that cookie is necessarily bad because that’s not your preference.

Much of the hate I saw for this movie was from this type of mentality. I was surprised to see it rated so low on IMDb back when I first saw this many years ago. Not because I thought it was a groundbreaking film, but I didn’t realize that people would really go out of their way to give a movie so much hate in a genre they don’t like, to begin with. I don’t like the Twilight movies, but I’d say the same for the hate those movies got since they were successful for the audiences they targeted.

Reminds me a bit of Nighthawks

Tom Green didn’t deserve that.

What kind of taco shells do you use? Do you use something special because of the celiac?

Thief Simulator VR has been pretty fun. I imagine this will be somewhat similar but different setting which sounds great.

That makes sense, thank you.

This is the kind of shit that makes me embrace piracy more and more.

Years ago, we bought this software that specializes in something we do at work. Super specialized software but met all of our needs. Expensive at $600 per license, but it was supposed to be for “life”. So we figured it was worth it.

Until we upgraded to Windows 11 this year because Windows 10 won’t be supported after October this year.

We upgraded the computers (yes, we bought multiple licenses of this, some even as late as last year, so only got a few uses) and didn’t think twice about it. But after upgrading, this software now shows as unlicensed.

No worries, we kept our licensing information in an event like this. Oh, it doesn’t recognize it. Oh, their specialized number changed too! Wtf alright, well I’ll just reach out to their support for help.

Their support is super slow and not just because they’re on the other side of the world. I have to usually reach out to “sales” to get someone to actually help me. Days later, they respond saying that we need to pay for a “reissuance” of the license because the OS changed.

Huh…?

It just upgraded! It’s still the same computer we installed it to. Wtf dude. How is this fair?

This is like your car’s transmission going out while still under warranty and the manufacturer denying a warranty replacement because the tires and color of the car changed. Yes, the VIN we gave the car is still the same, even the license plate is the same…but yeah, we won’t honor this without you paying us because it’s fundamentally a new car now!

Go fuck yourself. Truly.

This is not a new computer. This is the same computer. This is a new update that we didn’t necessarily want but we have no choice in the matter. You can verify that your software has been installed here since the day we activated with your license.

No pirated version exists for this nor would we use it since we’d get in trouble for it. But man, this is the kind of crap that deserves a pirated copy because this is absurd. I can understand being paid for your hard work and trying to avoid people skirting around paying you for each computer they install to, but this is overdoing it. You’re now being greedy and double dipping. No other software we use has this problem. And $600 is a bit much when you do this kind of crap. Even if you are only charging partial for “reissuance”.

Must be dying from a lot of people leaving. Who doesn’t know about Reddit nowadays??

Couldn’t sleep and went for a drive. 711 guy locked the door and posted a sign that he was taking a break just as I was walking up to the door so I turned around to leave and began leaving the parking lot. I look off to the side and see this weird looking cat but it’s not sitting like a cat.

Pulled up beside it and shouted out of my car “hey what are you up to?” The raccoon just looked up at me and I took this pic lol.

Truthfully, this was my first time seeing a raccoon (alive). I only ever see roadkill or glimpses of them scurrying off at night. So this was kind of cool for me.

It’s imitation lobster I bought for salad but thought I’d try this today because I wanted a sandwich and wanted some “lobster” too.

The lettuce is fresh from my backyard. Best thing I did this year was buy this 6 pack of lettuce plants for like $5 and have been using it ever since for sandwiches and salads.

Also added avocado and Roma tomato. And then added mayonnaise and siracha mayonnaise for the spread. You can see some of the siracha mayo on the lobster on the side.

Very delicious and definitely recommend.

Sorry if this is not the right community to ask this, but I just wondered this today.

Users often think of Linux as being more complicated to use than something like Windows or macOS, but I’m sure there are plenty of things made easier in Linux than the other two more common consumer OSes.

What are some that come to mind for you?

I got a new AIO cooler and needed to also move to a bigger desktop case.

So I moved all of my internal components from one case to the other and also removed the old AIO and installed the new one. Besides that, I might have damaged my PSU in the process so I had to replace that too. It wouldn’t turn on anymore so I just replaced it this morning.

I tried booting into Windows and it went to a BSOD saying cache_manager was the problem.

I tried to get a recovery in there and Windows tried to automatically repair drives but kept coming up on this same error.

I created a KDE Neon live USB and booted into that. Zero issues. I then manually formatted my Windows OS disk in KDE and also removed the Windows bootloader. Basically trying to start from a scratch system with no Microsoft any.

Still getting the BSOD, even with the Windows 11 USB installer I created from their creation tool. I am able to get to that purple screen in the installer and see a cursor to move around with my mouse. That’s the part in the Windows installer where you tell it what edition and which drive you want to choose. But after a few moments, it errors out to a BSOD.

Now I’ve actually went ahead and installed KDE Neon to my system. I use it on my laptop, but I need Windows on this computer for work (it’s my personal computer I game with but also use for remoting in for work).

I’m going to try redoing my USB as a new Windows 11 installer and see if that goes through, but wondering if there’s anything else I can do for this? Anything else to try?

I say “recently” in a relative way, more so countries that have split in the last century. Places like North and South Korea, Taiwan and China, former USSR states, etc.

Has enough time passed that these countries separated have major changes in their languages yet?

This shit grinds my gears so fucking hard.

I got a Dell Latitude 7400 2 in 1 from my job they were going to ewaste. I daily drive KDE Neon on it and I love it. However, one of its two USB type C ports isn’t working for charging or data transfer. I inspected the port but found no obvious damage. How can I troubleshoot and fix this? I’ve searched YouTube and online sites but haven’t found helpful guidance.
