When you're comfortable, it's easy not to give a shit. "Maus" gives a pretty terrifying picture of hanging out with people like this, in 1930s eastern Europe, and their lack of concern.

Honestly, it should be a Signal bot. Self hostable, or with a website somewhere outside the US run by someone who is never coming here, if your group is not into doing self hosting. We should be in this for the long haul and encouraging good practices, I think. It freaks me out that people are using Reddit for 50501 and putting this stuff on their phones where they can see who has it installed.

I am not saying it is technically impossible, I am just saying it would be weird for such a fundamental fact as over 50% of ICE agents' income coming from personal payouts for bounties to just not be reported on anywhere. And of course "it has been mentioned in various spots on Blue Sky" is more or less the same as "my cousin told me."

(Actually, it is worse, because you know your cousin is a real person whereas on Bluesky there is no such guarantee. But, regardless, it basically means nothing at all in terms of whether or not that assertion is true. "Weird" is an understatement for how improbable this is to actually be true.)

lemmy.world comments section in action, I guess. Literally every time someone comes at me with some kind of bonkers take, I look up, and I see that I am in a lemmy.world community.

?

What?

No it isn't. Where did you get this idea?

Yeah, but so maybe it goes dormant for another 5-10 years and people forget. And then, when middle-aged Stephen Miller comes out like Pink Floyd when he shaved all his hair, all with big plans and fire in his eyes... maybe he's running against Gavin Newsom who's kind of a POS anyway and nothing the left can get excited about, maybe he wins, and maybe then he gets to work. And he's got energy, he's not old or stupid.

I think it's better that it's Trump. It's still awful, but I really think it's better this way. I don't think people will forget this once it passes, or get distracted.

I feel like it is complacency poison, and habituation of what the important issues and messages are. It's like, it can't be that bad. They can't just be killing people. And they can't be planning what they are clearly planning.

Also, same spirit but just running on hardware of a toaster oven:

"Battle has ended and we have a hero now. I was feeling different as I received blessings from comrades. Now, so much time has elapsed and I'm old now, I think it's time for me to tell you the whole story. I hope this story will be told for a long time..."

I have no idea why it was the only game to ever do an action soundtrack in a minor key. Result is clearly 💣

Seriously. If Putin thought NATO was a paper tiger, why didn't he invade them, instead of Ukraine which he's now having so much trouble with?

Ukrainian military specialists have arrived in Denmark to take part in joint counter-drone exercises following recent reports of unidentified drones violating the Nordic country's airspace, officials said Sept. 29.

The "Wings of Defense" training will bring together Ukrainian and Danish forces to practice countermeasures against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said.Over the course of a week, participants will carry out practical tasks, exchange expertise, and strengthen their ability to defend against drones and aerial threats.

"Such exercises are an important step in strengthening the interoperability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Denmark and make our states stronger in their common pursuit of peace and security in Europe," the General Staff said.

The exercise comes after a series of drone sightings forced temporary shutdowns at Danish airports, raising concerns over security in the country's airspace. Most recently, Danish Armed Forces reported detecting drones over military facilities on Sept. 28.

Ukrainian specialists were invited to share their combat-tested knowledge in countering drones—an area in which Kyiv has gained extensive experience and developed significant innovations since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022.

Denmark has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine since the start of the war, supplying Kyiv with military equipment and investing heavily in the Ukrainian defense industry, including joint drone production.

Hungary blocked 12 Ukrainian media outlets in response to Kyiv's earlier ban on several foreign publications over Russian narratives, Hungarian Cabinet Minister Gergely Gulyas said on Sept. 29.

Several Hungarian media outlets were among those temporarily restricted in Ukraine by an order by the State Special Communications Service on Sept. 8

According to Gulyas, Ukraine blocked the Hungarian outlets Origo and Demokrata because they "dared to write critically about the policy of sanctions against Russia, Ukraine's armed support, and portray the EU and NATO as fragmented and ineffective organizations."

Gulyas described the ban on Hungarian outlets in Ukraine as "a completely unjustified attack."

The list of 12 banned Ukrainian media outlets in Hungary includes several popular sources such as Ukrainska Pravda, European Pravda, NV, hromadske and TSN.

"With Ukraine's accession, the EU would only become more fragmented," Gulyas wrote on Facebok.

The news marks the most recent point of tension amid strained relations between Kyiv and Budapest.

Hungary is broadly seen as the most Kremlin-friendly government in the EU and NATO. The country has consistently obstructed aid to Ukraine and sanctions against Russia throughout the full-scale war.

Ukraine applied for EU membership shortly after Russia launched its war in 2022 and was granted candidate status within months.

As an EU member, Hungary has veto power over further progress.

Last week, reconnaissance drones likely belonging to Hungary had violated Ukraine's airspace along the border, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. Budapest rejected the allegations.
