I will say, I really want someone* to make a Jellyfin aggregator so you can use multiple servers at once.

*Not me.

100% my experience as well. The external authentication requirement is what made my choose Jellyfin a couple years ago.

I was forcing VPN for a couple years but I've just recently started allowlisting client IPs instead. Not as good but definitely easier.

I love Stirling PDF. I use it probably once a quarter on average. But it's always there, ready to be useful.

Well that's interesting.

I've been making people use VPN, but that's been a huge barrier to entry. I'm in the process of switching to IP allow list in traefik.

They're comparing to the actual medication to make sure they're giving you the right thing.

Try just putting 70.

Could make it mandatory like Australia.

Of course, many in the political space are trying to limit voting, so..

Found Directory Lister, which seems like it's exactly what I want.

I just get alerts over telegram. They're just regular notifications, but you could probably set specific notification behavior and sounds for the app?

Edit: Though that's not a selfhosted solution. Sometimes it's a decision between reliability and selfhosted. e.g., I went back to Tailscale from Headscale when I lost connectivity through Headscale and couldn't figure out how to get it back.

16 Max RAM (self.framework)

Is there any reason to think the 16 mainboard won't eventually support 256GB of RAM once 128GB SODIMMs are out?

I want to be able to control my thermostat from my phone, so I'm looking for recommendations for one that meets the following:

  • Works with no network access (as in, I can access it but it can't access anywhere else, enforced via VLAN on my firewall)
  • Lets me control my single apartment thermostat (temperature, heat/cool, maybe programming but it's okay if I have to do that on the unit directly)
  • Not hundreds of dollars
  • No microphone

Any thoughts? Really just want something simple.

Edit: I have no other smart home devices right now, if that matters.

Is there any way to get the Xfce workspace switcher on Cinnamon? I've got hot corners enabled right now to try to replace it, but it's definitely not as nice as being able to just drag applications across workspaces right in the switcher. Plus, having the application icons in the switcher makes it much easier to see at a glance what's going on in each workspace.

I have a bunch of equipment on my rack that has AC adapters as part of the cable. How do people manage those so that they're secured and out of the way?

I currently have a Lenovo ThinkPad P50, and it has separate buttons at the bottom of the trackpad, which I prefer to having to click the trackpad in the right place. I know the trackpads on Framework laptops are the latter type. How do people find them? Do they work well? Any issues with clicking or palm activation?

I've preordered the 16 and this won't turn me off it, but it's my main worry about it.

I wasn't sure where to ask this, so please feel free to direct me to a different community if there's a good one for this question.

Are there any US banks that allow their clients programmatic access to their own data? As far as I'm aware, that's not really a thing in the US, but I might be willing to switch banks if there are any that provide access.

Is there a way to change the behavior of a middle click on an application in the panel away from Close and instead to New Window/Instance? I keep trying to say open a new Firefox window and instead close my existing window.

Reddit had /r/jobsForNano - any chance of something similar here?

Does the 16 require DDR5 or can it support DDR4?

Is there anything you can do with the x8 in the expansion bay? Could I add a card to support an additional M.2 drive?

I have a 13" NexDock right now that has the issue that the trackpad extends far enough to the right that my thumb pad keeps touching it by accident. The Framework 13 looks similar; has anyone had this issue?
